Gail Schlise, 68, Green Bay, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Sunday January 8, 2012. She was born on June 3, 1943 to the late George and Mary (Heitz) Grotelueschen. Gail married Peter Schlise on July 3, 1991. She graduated from West High School, Green Bay, in 1961. Gail was a genuine “people person” and enjoyed her jobs working with customers and fellow employees at WOS Optical for many years, and then at The Silver Thimble where she pursued her love for quilting. She also made many friends through her involvement in bowling and related tournaments and conventions. Gail’s passion for quilting brought more friendships from quilting shows and retreats. But her best friends were her husband Pete, her two children and her four grandchildren. She loved caring for her grandkids at her home on Lake Leone.
Gail is survived by her husband Pete, one daughter and son-in-law Wendy and Rick Baeten, one son and daughter-in-law George and Jeannie Miller, one brother and sister-in-law David and Jeanne Grotelueschen and four grandchildren, Jake, Eric and Jessica Baeten and Cooper Miller. Her extended family includes step daughter Stephanie Maley(husband John, children Jonathon and Patrick), Sister-in-law Mary Warren (husband George), Nephews Michael Grotelueschen (children Rebecca, Abi and Charlie) and Anthony Warren, Nieces Anne Welsing (husband Jay, children Jena, Reese and Rhett), and Jennifer Warren-Boisjoli (husband Nate and child George).
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gregory and infant sister Heidi.
Having someplace to go is home. Having someone to love is family. Having both is a blessing. Gail was a blessing to all of us!
We would like to thank the staff at Green Bay Oncology and St. Vincent Hospital – Ninth Floor for their dedicated and excellent care.
