George P. Palamara, 63, Howard, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2010.
He was born on August 3, 1946 in Hamburg, Germany. George served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He married Judy (Nelson) Wied on Oct. 26, 1991. George worked for the TSA-Homeland Security as a security screener.
Survivors include his wife, Judy, Howard; children, Peter (Kathy) Palamara, Castlerock, CO; Michael Palamara, Denver, CO; stepchildren, Joseph Wied (Karen Donovan), Green Bay; Lynne Corbeille, Green Bay; Julie (Brian) Kamps, Abrams; Christina (Edgar) Johnson, Mesa, AZ; eleven grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Leokadia Palamara.

Bernard J. LeMere

Bernard “Bernie” LeMere passed away peacefully at his lifelong home on February 28, 2010. Bernard was delivered by Dr. Rosa Minoka Hill in a log cabin on the family homestead on February 25, 1931 to George P. and Susan (Dunks) LeMere. He graduated from Trout Creek Elementary School. Bernard was a dairy farmer his entire life. He took great pride in his Holsteins. The only time he left the farm was the 2 years he dutifully served his Country in Korea in the US Army. On July 4, 1960, he married Midge (Madeline) Hansen. They were married for 43 years until Midge passed on April 3, 2004. He milked his last cow on April 25, 1990 when he retired from farming. He then began an 18 year career of driving bus for Lamers Bus Lines.
He is survived by his children, John LeMere (friend Cheryl Wallace) and John’s daughter Jaclyn; Mary LeMere (friend Scott Blomquist) and Mary’s daughter Lexi; Mark (Jennie) LeMere and their children Lizzy and Jacob. He is further survived by his sisters, Marion (Donald) Landwehr, Dorothy Ullmer, and Helen (Emmett) Exferd; sisters-in-law Kathleen and Betty LeMere. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Harold and Robert LeMere; brother-in-law, James Ullmer; and Midge’s sister and her husband, Jane and Abner Sapiro.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 145 St. Joseph Drive, Oneida on Tuesday, March 2 from 3 until 7:00 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church concelebrated by Fr. David Duffeck and Fr. David Koch.
The family wishes to thank all of Bernard’s friends and neighbors who made his life so filled with meaning, especially during this past year. Special thanks to Bernard’s extended family at Lamers Bus, Grama’s Diner, the St. Joseph Oneida Faith Community and Chris and Pam of Unity Hospice.

Kenneth H. Shewalter

On Monday, February 8, 2010, just four months short of his goal age of 90, Ken passed away at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice Center in Dade City, Florida.
He was born in Elwood, Indiana on June 4, 1920, the second of four children of the late Dr. George and Lota (Webb) Shewalter Sr. Ken graduated from East High School in Green Bay and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp Cadets in 1942. He fought in the Pacific Theater in World War II as a pilot and was honorably discharged in 1946. Ken was an independent auto mechanic for many years in Green Bay. He was a 32nd degree Mason, as was his father before and which he was most proud. Ken was an avid supporter of Beja Shriners and the Washington Lodge No. 21 F. & A.M.; both of Green Bay.
He was wintering in Zephyrhills at the home of his niece and nephew-in-law, Nancy (Pratt) and Frank Swartz. Further survived by nieces, Katharine Pratt Andrews, Yvonne Noh Bretz, Cheryl Geyer Hooper; nephews, Alan T. Olbrich, Phillip Geyer, Richard Noh, Steven Noh as well as multiple generational nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, George (wife Irene) Shewalter Jr., Marilyn S. Pratt Noh, Vivian S.O. Geyer; a lifetime companion, Beatrice Schultz of Schultz’s Pharmacy, Green Bay.
A Celebration of Ken’s Life with a visitation will be held at the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Howard-Suamico location, 1145 Cardinal Lane, on Friday, Feb. 19 from 9:30 until 11 a.m. Masonic Service 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home followed by Military Honors.

Milton A. Nero

Milton A. Nero, 93, De Pere, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, February 3, 2010 at San Luis Manor.
Milton was born on May 24, 1916 in Milwaukee, the son of the late Arthur and Amelia Nero. He married Zoe Montague on May 31, 1942 in Stoughton, WI. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage before her death on December 6, 1989. He married Clara Koenig on September 3, 1994 in St. Louis, MO. They enjoyed 14 years of marriage before her death on September 14, 2008.
Milton attended West High School in Green Bay and graduated from UW-Madison in 1942 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He served his country in the United States Navy as a Commander and was honorably discharged. After working for Berners- Schober Associates and Green Bay Packaging for a number of years, he then became self-employed as a civil engineer and architect, working out of his home until retirement. Milton had a love of music, and was involved in the church choir at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Bach Choir, he served as business manager for the Green Bay Symphony. He was forever looking for a new project which over the years included: making wine, building furniture, building a greenhouse and growing orchids, remodeling numerous homes, and in later years making beautiful stained glass artifacts which the entire family has enjoyed. Milton enjoyed many vacations over the years with Zoe and Clara.
Milton is survived by his brother, Elroy Nero; sisters-in-law, Theda Nero and Jean Hanson; four daughters, Nancee Ott, Lynn (Lee) Cornell, Jacci Briggs and special friend Barry Van Volkenburg, Elise (Greg) Puls; two Stepdaughters, Linda Ragsdale and Elaine Koenig; Grandchildren, Leonard (Kerry) Ott, Benjamin (Sarah) Ott, Dhea (Mark) Lamb, Craig (Colleen) Cornell, Rachel (Bob) Bloedorn, Keith
(Angela) Moehring, Kari Moehring, Erika (Mark) Anderson, Jennifer Ragsdale; and 14 Great-grandchildren.

Lucille Honzik, 80, De Pere, entered into God’s presence with her loving family by her side at a local hospital on Tuesday, February 2, 2010.
She was born on Dec. 6, 1929 in Two Rivers to the late Paul and Albertine (Lasperance) Larson. Lucille married Eugene Honzik in Two Rivers on May 2, 1953. She was a Music Minister at Word of Life Ministries. Lucille loved baking, cooking, crocheting and knitting. She also liked eating out, shopping and traveling.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Eugene; children, Mark (Jeanne) Honzik and their children, Jessina, Ashley, and Joshua; Deborah (Honzik) Reese and her children, Alana and Nicole; Karen (Tom) Bierke and their children, Christopher, Andrew, Sheldon and Kaylon; Paul (Abbie) Honzik and their children, Paul Jr. and Stephen; Eugene (Karen) Honzik Jr. and their children, Natalya and Jordan; Michelle Honzik and her children, Birttany and Brandon; four great grandchildren; two sisters, JoAnn Carle and Romona (Tom) Boutwell; one brother, Deacon Samuel Larson; sister-in-law, Lorraine Mueller.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; two sons; brother-in-law, Harvey; sister-in-law, Adeline Tolksdorf.

Karen S. Quick

Karen S. Quick, 67, Allouez, went home to Heaven on Saturday January 23rd, 2010.
Karen was born to Meta (Seifert) and Paul Hoffman in Port Washington on September 24th, 1942. She was one of four children. She attended Orchard Grove Elementary School and graduated from Kewaskum High School in 1960.
Karen was employed at Prevea Clinic in Green Bay for eight years. Prior to working at Prevea, she worked at the Hmong Association of Brown County for five years.
Karen enjoyed playing bingo, scratching lottery tickets and was an avid reader. She was an extreme Packer fan and enjoyed watching the games with her family. She also liked to watch NASCAR and was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan.
Survivors include her children, Jim & Chris Quick, Denmark; Chrissy & Dan Harvey, Manitowoc; Jerry Quick, St. Nazianz; Bob & Shelly Quick, Bellevue; and Brian & Michelle Quick, Denmark; her grandchildren, Joshua Quick, Danielle (Ricky) VanGheem, Eric Quick, Jordan Quick, Lily, Ella and Max Quick; she was also excited about the up-coming arrival of her great-grandchildren in May.
She is also survived by her brother, Michael Hoffman of Chilton, and many nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Paul & Meta Hoffman; her brother, Paul Hoffman and her sister, Betty Gasser.

Elizabeth J. Palet, 85, Little Suamico, passed away at an area hospital on Tuesday, January 19, 2010.
She was born in Mobridge, South Dakota on December 25, 1924 to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Crabbe) Micheals. Elizabeth married Francis Palet and he preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1992. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and years ago riding horses. Elizabeth loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Gerri (James) White, Tilleda; Richard Pinchard, Duck Creek; Christine Wirtz, California; Terry (Diane) Palet, Duck Creek; Linda (Roy) McKeefry, Pulaski; Michael (Lori) Palet, Abrams; 18 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Patricia Micheals.

David Gene England, 56, died January 16th, 2010, in Green Bay, WI after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Marinette on November 18, 1953 to the late Russell and Lois (Bair) England. David graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1971. He worked in the area for several years and then began trucking which took him all over the United States. David loved spending time with his family and friends, cooking, and entertaining whenever he could. He loved taking care of his grandson Elijah.
He is survived by his wife Betty; son Nathan (Rebecca) England; grandson, Elijah England; step-sons Larry, Gary, and Jerry (Amy) Morris; grandchildren, Josh Endslow, Leah, Brandon, Bree and Nicholas Morris; five brothers Charles (Joanne) England; John (Joan) England; Don (Judith) England; Sid (Julie)England; Allen(Karen) England; three sisters Nancy Croake; Suzanne(Charles) Kupchick; Judy Perry. Further survived by many nephews and nieces.
Dave was preceded in death by an infant son, Chad; daughter, Tonya; brother, Glen.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23rd, 2010, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 2160 Packerland Dr., Green Bay, WI. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Barbara A. (Knute) Motiff, 66, Oconto Falls, passed away at her home on Monday, January 4, 2010.
She was born in Green Bay on Feb. 18, 1943 to the late Walter and Estella (Ronski) Waskowiak. Barb married Jim Motiff in Green Bay on May 18, 1991 and was employed as a personal care worker at Clarity Care until retiring in 2006.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; children, Roxanne (David) Charles; Denise (Moise) Knute; John Knute; Jim Knute; grandchild, Paul Knute; great grandchild, Seth Knute; sister, Betty (Don) Steeno; brothers, Richard and Walter Waskowiak Jr.; mother-in-law, Valeria Motiff; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry (Debbie) Motiff; Jean (Floyd) Hethke; special friends, Jean (Marv) McGregor. Further survived by many special friends and her pets, Tangy and Sandy.

Elaine H. Balwierczak, 82, Suamico, passed away at a local nursing home with her husband by her side on Friday, December 18, 2009.
Elaine was born in Duck Creek on April 2, 1927 to the late Carl and Bertha (Goldschmidt) Last. She married Frank Balwierczak on Sept. 18, 1954. Elaine was an area resident all her life and enjoyed canning and cooking. She owned and operated Frankelaines in Suamico until retiring in 1977.
Survivors include her husband, Frank; two daughters, Ardie (Keith) Kutska,, Abrams; Lori Balwierczak and Roger Hattimer, Holcombe; grandchildren, Clayton (Brenda) Kutska; Jed Balwierczak; great grandchildren, Kelsey, Katie and Matthew Kutska; sister, Mary Hussong.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John, Orville, and Alvin Last; brother-in-law, Leon Hussong; nephews, Brian and Bradley Hussong; niece, Cheryl Rastia.

June C. Lemerond, 81, Howard, passed away at a local nursing home on Sunday, December 13, 2009.
June was born on June 20, 1928 to the late William and Bessie (Burt) Baril. She married LeRoy Lemerond on May 21, 1948 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 1995. June was a homemaker and liked to dance.
Survivors include her children, Judy (Jerry) Pallock; Diane Jancy; David Lemerond; William Lemerond; Jim Lemerond; Pam (Bill) Olejnizcak; John Lemerond; Tom Lemerond; Faye (George) Rankin; Terri Jo; Rodney Lemerond; Dan Lemerond; numerous grand and great grandchildren; her sister, Glady (Chetti) School.

James Gene Margitan

James G. ‘Trapper’ Margitan, 81, Howard, passed away unexpectedly at a local hospital on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009.
James was born on May 11, 1928 in Clear Lake, Wisconsin, to the late Steve and Emma (Lee) Margitan. He served his country in the Merchant Marines and then the US Army for several years crossing over the Pacific numerous times until he was honorably discharged. On Sept. 3, 1955 he married the former Genevieve Gehrke in Minocqua, Wisconsin. James worked 22 years before his retirement as a truck driver for Red Owl Food Stores. His C.B. call sign was ‘Trapper’. Jim will be remembered for his dedication to his country, family and career. He was an excellent truck driver, loved to muskie and walleye fish; enjoyed hunting, fishing and being an all around sportsman. He was a dedicated and avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Genevieve; children: James B. Margitan; Dan (Gerri) Margitan; Marsha (Scott) Stueber; Larry G. Margitan; his grandchildren: James J. (Cassandra) Margitan; Aimee Margitan and Nick; Dana, Andrew and Kristine Stueber; Dalton, Makayla Margitan; Nicole and Zackery Kruse; great grandchildren: Leslie and Mackenzie Stueber; Michaela; brothers and sisters: Jane (John) Barnick; John (Bonnie) Margitan; Diane Spiegel; sister-in-law: Pat (Mervin) Archdale; he is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

John D. Van Vonderen, Little Suamico, died unexpectedly on November 28, 2009, at the age of 68. He lived a full life filled with blessings & love. He is survived by Redeena Regal; son, J.R., his wife, Renee, and children Dane and Cade; son, James, his wife, Julie, and children, Alex and Ava; and daughter, Monica Campbell, her husband, Brian, and children, Owen and Kylin. He is further survived by his brother Frank Van Vonderen, his wife, Diane; nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Audrey Van Vonderen.

Elizabeth ‘Betty Lou’ Perz, 76, Howard, passed away at a local hospital on Friday, Nov. 20, 2009.
She was born in Oconto Falls on Nov. 10, 1933 to the late John and Anna (Updenkelder) Hudson. On July 8, 1961 she married Thomas Perz at St. Willebrord Catholic Church in Green Bay. Betty Lou enjoyed cooking, homemaking, bowling, shaking dice and watching the Packers. She loved her family especially her grandchildren.
