Obituary

Alexander "Alex" Hamilton, 86, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025. He was born on December 26, 1938, to the late Frank and Georgianna (Madden) Hamilton. From 1959 – 1964, Alex served in the United States Navy. On October 15, 1966, he married Diane (O) and together they raised six children and fostered many more. Alex taught and retired after teaching Industrial Arts for 33 years at Bay Port High School. Alex took up and loved wood carving, winning several 1st place ribbons at competitions, and carving many birds and animals for friends and family. Alex enjoyed fishing with his grandkids, earning the name "Grampa Fishing". He was active with St. Anne's parish in Coleman with the S.H.I.N.E. group chaperoning many mission trips. He soon became involved and a committed Carmelite with the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites. In 2019, Alex made his Final (Definitive) Promise.

Survivors include his children, Kevin (Sabrina) Hamilton, Jason (Deborah) Hamilton, Erica (Erich) Hennig, Mark Hamilton, Laura Hamilton, and Eli Hamilton; 9 grandchildren, Alexander John "A.J.", Maggie, Addison, Sophia, Abby, Riley, Elizabeth (LeBresh), Vanessa, Nashi, and 1 great-grandson, Lyric. He is also survived by siblings, Francette, Phillip, David, Jack, Darrell, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Diane (O) Hamilton; parents; and brother, Roger.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (2597 Glendale Ave, entrance directly across from the BP gas station). A Mass of Christian Burial and military honors will immediately follow.

Family would like to send a special thank you to Unity Hospice and all the staff at the Jack & Engrid Meng Residence, as well as Deacon Nick Williams.

A donation will be made to Parkinson's research in Alex' name.
