Alva "Ray" Beams passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 29, 2023 at the age of 82 after a brief illness. He was born in Sulphur, Oklahoma on November 13, 1940. Ray served in the Army, stationed in Germany, as a Military Police Officer. He married Karen Mausolf on April 8, 1963 in Hoisington, Kansas. Karen pre-deceased Ray on March 15, 1986. Ray married Frances Wolf on November 14, 1987 at Nativity of Our Lord in Green Bay Wisconsin. He was a long-time employee of Green Bay Packaging where he worked as a Millwright until he retired.
Ray served as a youth football coach for Ashwaubenon Warriors & Redskins, Boy Scouts den leader, Knights of Columbus – fourth degree Knight, was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, and after retirement became a super-fan and supporter of his grandchildren's many activities including football, softball, soccer, golf, musicals, band concerts, Goody Triathlon Event for Special Education, and Girl Scouts.
Survivors include wife, Fran Beams; children, Kevin Beams, Curt Beams, Kathy Rubia, and Cyndi Goltry; stepchildren, Teresa Duda (Joe) and Troy Wolf (Gina); grandchildren, Bethany Kenny (Sean), Beau Beams, Alexa Seering (Isaac), Hayley Goltry (Joey), Maezy Beams, Emma Wolf, Nelson Beams, Mikayla Rubia, Donovan Rubia, and Julia Duda; great-grandchildren, Liam Kenny and Samuel "Sam T" Kenny; other family members, Maria Beams, nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by wife, Karen Beams; brother, Byron Beams; mother, Daisy "Granny" Edwards; sister, Wanda Ford; and son-in-law, Jerry Rubia.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, at Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Howard-Suamico, 1145 Cardinal Lane, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Friday, February 3, at Nativity Our Lord Parish, 2270 S Oneida St, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial and military honors will follow.
