Arlene J
Axelson
Oct 25, 1933 — Dec 4, 2025
Arlene Joyce Axelson, age 92 of Green Bay passed away Dec. 4, 2025. She was born Oct. 25, 1933 in Iron Mountain, MI to the late Edwin Lindstrom and Mildred (Donaldson) Lindstrom. Arlene was a graduate of Kingsford High School, class of 1950, Kingsford, MI. After graduation Arlene moved to Green to attend Badger Business College, where she made lifelong friendships.
In 1955 she met Ricard Axelson and they were married on June 2, 1956 at Grace Lutheran Church, Green Bay. They remained a loving couple and were constant companions for 67 years.
Arlene was employed as an office manager at Northland Paint Mfg. for over 20 years. She was on many bowling and golf leagues, still golfing into her 80's. Richard and Arlene held a membership at Village Greens Golf Club, close to their home in Howard and played nearly every day for many years. They loved camping and started when their children were young and continued, traveling in their RV throughout Wisconsin on the weekends. If they could find a golf course, a church and a campground in any small town, then that was their destination for the weekend. They enjoyed spending their winters in Southern Texas.
Arlene and Richard were both longtime members of Trinity Lutheran Church. Over the last 10 years Arlene crocheted prayer shawls and lap robes, averaging one per week. These she brought to the church, where Unity Hospice then distributed them to Hospice patients. She took great pride in that no two were alike.
After Richard's passing, Arlene lived independently at Woodside Oaks, Green Bay. She had so many wonderful friends, with whom she played cards, dominos, bingo, and attended exercise classes and prayer sessions.
Arlene is survived by her son Russ, Melbourne, FL; her daughter Valerie (Mike) Seidl, Appleton; 4 grandchildren Amber (Bryan), Ashley, Brandon (Katia) & Jess (Josh); 4 great-grandchilden, Austin, Aubrey, Carter and Caleb; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, son Ron, her parents, brother Charles and sister-in-law Jean.
A memorial service will be held in Spring, with burial at Fort Howard Cemetary.
The family would like to thank Aurora medical staff, Unity Hospice, along with Connie and all of Arlene's great friends at Woodside Oaks.
Arrangements entrusted in the care of Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Online condolences are welcome.
