Obituary

Betty J. (Beckendorf) Hornick, 88, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, April 8, 2018. She was born in Brookside, WI on June 26, 1929 to the late Albert and Freida (Wach) Beckendorf. Betty graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1946. She married Michael Hornick on July 3, 1948 at St. Louis Church in Abrams. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2003. Betty resided in the Village of Howard most of her life. She was a loving and caring homemaker, Cub Scout Den Mother and recipient of the Trailblazer Award of the Boy Scouts of America. Betty belonged to Catholics United for the Faith (CUF), Latin Mass Assn. and the Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her children, Ken (Mary Alice), Paul, Greg (Theresa), Nancy (Robert) Cooney, Mark (Karen); Janette (Ron) Gass; daughter-in-law, Sandy Hornick; grandchildren, Luanna, Adam (Kristi), Patrick (Amanda), April (Adrian) DelaCruz, Lisa (Matt) Nellis, Emily (Chad) Caelwaerts, Matt (Andrea), Holly (Nathan) Vine, Bryan (Jessica) Cooney, Sarah (Chris) Knier, Angela Cooney, Justine (Colin) Lineburg, Stacey (Ben) Ainsworth, Kathryn Hornick; 19 great grandchildren; brother, Don Beckendorf; in-laws, Jerry Trudell, Ed Libecki, Patty Hornick, Phyllis Hornick. Further survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; son, Larry Hornick; sister, Patricia Trudell; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Family and friends may call at the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Howard-Suamico location, 1145 Cardinal Lane, on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 4 until 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation continues on Saturday at Ss. Edward & Isidore Catholic Church, 3667 Flintville Road, Suamico, from 10 until 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. at the church with Father David Hoffman officiating.
