Obituary

Betty Jo Wozniak, 68, Shawano, WI passed away on Sunday Dec. 20th, 2015. She was born in Oconto Falls, WI on Nov. 8th, 1947 to John and Hazel "Hashie" (Johnson) Wozniak.

Betty Jo was a proud and devoted member of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin. She worked for the tribe for over 30 years. For more than 15 years she was the Tribal Administrator. Later in her career she was the Director of Maehnowesekiyah and then Director of the Tribal Housing Department. Betty Jo loved to travel for work. She often visited places and met people that she said, "I'd never had had the opportunity to see if not for my work for the Tribe". She enjoyed reading and watching movies. Betty Jo also loved her time spent at the casino, probably one of her favorite forms of relaxation. What Betty Jo loved most though, was her family. She particularly loved spending time with her nephews and nieces, often times taking them along on her travels.

Betty Jo is survived by her son Mark Wozniak of Rhinelander, WI, nephew Jason Wozniak, brother John Wozniak, sisters Becky Behnke, Barb (Mark) Casper, all of Shawano, WI and sister Brenda Wozniak of Fall River, MA. All of whom she helped to raise as her own children. Betty Jo is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Betty Jo is survived by Nancy (Ken) Smestad, Neenah, WI, her most dear friend, and her family and Kathy (Jim) Kaquatosh, Keshena, WI, another special friend of many years.

Betty Jo was preceded in death by her parents.
