Obituary

Bonnie passed away peacefully July 27,  2019.
Born January 6, 1945 to Joe and Doreen Mathie,  she was their eldest child.  The family owned a spacious and scenic property on the Wolf River in Shawano,  where Bonnie grew up surrounded by her 6 beloved Sisters.
As stated under her 1963 High School yearbook photo
" With her pretty eyes and sparkling smile she will make any time worthwhile "
After high school Bonnie went to beauty school where she graduated at the top of her class.   She styled hair in the 1960's at a salon in Shawano, and for many years after used her hairdresser skills for family, friends and neighbors.
Bonnie married William Kanzenbach and soon thereafter they discovered a shared passion for collecting and  restoring antiques.  After their daughter was born in 1969 they endeavored self employment and created Red Barn Antiques, which became a very successful business in Howard, WI.   A hardworking and adventurous duo, they did many antique shows in Wisconsin and Illinois over the next 30 years.  Bonnie refinished every piece of furniture that they sold.  They remodeled an old brick farmhouse into a beautifully modern home that was featured in the local newspaper.  Bonnies vision and flair for interior design was just another one of her many talents.
Her keen organizational and bookeeping skills came in handy not only for the business where she inventoried hundreds of items and balanced the books, but later as the Secretary Treasurer of the Northern Wisconsin Antique Dealers Association, which she expanded and helped financially.  Bonnies knowledge of historical items and cultural artifacts also qualified her to appraise antiques for other collectors.
The barn that housed their business also became home to many cats that seemingly found their way to her,  as she fed, cared for and rescued many of them.  Bonnies love of animals was just another part of her being a natural caregiver,  So much so, that when she started living in memory care she was doting on the other residents.  She was beloved by the staff of the various homes she lived in, and a special thank you goes out to the all the devoted and caring nurses that made her laugh.  Not even Alzheimers could dampen her spirit,  or keep her smile from brightening any room.
Survived by her husband Bill, her daughter Jessie,  Sisters Candace (Guy) Berton, Marcie Waeckerle, Marybeth (Dan) Kralovetz,  Jamie (Jeff) Waukau,  Amy Mathie, Julie Mathie,  numerous nieces and nephews. Preceeded in death by her parents Joe and Doreen (Mcewen) Mathie,  mother and father-in-law Alvin and Bernice (Winter) Kanzenbach, sister-in-law Barbara (Kopek) Kanzenbach.
per Bonnies wishes there will be no formal funeral.
