Obituary

Charles E. Iken, 68, passed away on December 29, 2022.

Chuck was born in Galesburg, IL, on November 13, 1954, to Martha and the late George Iken, Jr. He graduated from Ashwaubenon High School in 1972, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay as a music student.

In 1988, Chuck married Karen Bauer, a Green Bay band teacher. They had two wonderful daughters, Maggie and Jayne, who shared their parents' love of music. Chuck also loved golfing, and taking his girls to the Wildlife Sanctuary ("Ducky Zoo") and NEW Zoo. He taught them to fish and enjoy animals.

Chuck was employed at Musician's Repair and Supply from 1973 until starting Instrumental Music Company with co-workers in 2002. He took great pride in knowing as much as possible about the musical instruments both companies sold and repaired for area musicians and students. As a local musician, Chuck played for shows at the Carlton West, Weidner Center, and Green Lake's Heidel House. He was a member of the Green Bay Sinatra Tribute Orchestra, CP Telethon House Orchestra, and Green Bay Packer Band. Chuck was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2017 and retired in 2019, and then was also diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in 2022.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Karen, daughters Maggie (significant other, Tyler) and Jayne (Sam), grandpets Lucy, Allen, and Persy, mother Martha Iken, siblings Mary (Chris) Groh and Rob (Mary) Iken, cousin Jan (Doug) Belles, aunts Maxine, Cheryl, Leona and Lyla, inlaws Bob and MaryLee Bauer, Barb (Jerome) Murphy and Bob (Sherri) Bauer, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Chuck is preceded in death by his father, George Iken, Jr., uncle Charles Donaldson, aunt Marilyn Donaldson, uncle David Iken, and cousin Jim Donaldson.

The family would like to thank the medical and care staff at the Bellin Hospital Cardiac Unit and staff of the Bellin Neurology Team.
