Obituary

Dale Thomas Swaney
(January 15, 1956 - September 17, 2025)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dale Thomas Swaney, who left us on September 17, 2025, at the age of 69.

Dale was a man who dedicated his life to serving his family and his country. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 20 years, a commitment that reflected his deep love for our great nation. His sense of duty was matched only by his love for his family, who gave meaning to his life.

A true patriot and a passionate lover of the great outdoors, Dale found his greatest joy in the simple beauty of nature. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who found solace in the quiet moments spent in the forests, on the tranquility of lakes, and in the beauty of every changing season. His love for nature will be forever reflected in every sunset and every tranquil moment we spend outdoors.

After the guns were cleaned, fishing poles put away, and the work for the day was done, Dale's playful spirit and love for a good joke shone through. A natural storyteller, he could light up any room with his wit and humor. When the cribbage board was out and cards were dealt, his competitive nature came to play. But when left to his own devices, Dale could often be found engrossed in a good documentary, always ready to discuss the world's great mysteries and conspiracies. It was the title of Grandpa, that brought out his most tender and fierce love. He was quick to comfort with a hug and a song, or pass along the wisdom of his many years and life experiences.

Dale is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth (Brafford) Swaney; his sons, Aaron (Beth), Patrick (Rhonda), Jason (Tess), and David (Lisa); his daughter, Chenine; and his grandchildren. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by all who knew and loved him.

Dale, you will be forever in our hearts. We promise to count our blessings the way we count our cards—carefully and thoroughly—so we don't miss out on even the simple pair for 2.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
