Obituary

Don Whiting, 70, of Green Bay, passed away at Bellin Hospital with wife Jodi, sister Mary and niece Tina by his side on August 10, 2025.

Don was welcomed into this world to Delbert and Mary Whiting, sharing his mother's birthday on February 5, 1955.

Growing up, Don attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Premontre Catholic High School where he was involved in Cross Country and ROTC.

His career spanned managing and servicing a Hoover vacuum cleaner business in California. On his return to Green Bay, he was a papermaker for over twenty years at Georgia Pacific until his retirement.

In his spare time, he volunteered as a Red Cross driver serving his community. He bowled in a league at Ashwaubenon Lanes for many years. Don was also an avid sports fan, loved the Green Bay Packers and took pride in being a shareholder.

While Don lived in the same state of California as Jodi for many years, it wasn't until after he returned to Wisconsin that he met Jodi while attending a salt and pepper shaker convention. Don was a collector of salt and pepper shakers, a passion he acquired after inheriting his mother's collection. This began a long-distance romance until Jodi moved to the Midwest making their relationship official through marriage. They enjoyed traveling and spending time together throughout their 18 years of marriage. They also continued attending conventions annually until recently when Don's health declined.

Don will be missed by his wife Jodi, his sisters Sue (Mark) Anderson, Mary (Russ) Luepke and Kay Mahloch, sister-in-law Bonnie Whiting, sister-in-law DeAnne (Larry) Wheeler, special friend Kathy Metzner; nieces/nephews Jim (Paula) Whiting, Aaron Whiting, April Bernier, Denise Whiting, Kathy (Darnell) Adams McIntosh, Kirk (Tina) Housey, Michelle (Steve) Heil, Tina Peterson, Josh (Lara) Whiting, Jeff (Melissa) Wheeler, Shannon (Todd) Lockwood; grand-nieces/grand-nephews Kamryn, Buddy, Kiera, Laura, Aubriella, Christopher, Kelly, Alyssa, Trisha, Shannon, Becca, Kellen, Georgia, Klayton, Celina, Cory, Jenny, Lucas, Ethan, Leah, Rachel, Jude, Van, Evan and Owen.

As he was welcomed by his parents into this world at his birth, he is welcomed into Heaven by his parents at his death. Father Delbert Whiting, mother Mary Whiting; sisters Betty Adams, Pat C. Whiting, Verene VanNorman, Viola Longsine, Shirley Fischer and Carol Shafman; brothers Jim Whiting, Bob Whiting, Dennis Whiting, Edgar Whiting and Marvin Whiting; parent- in-laws Gene and Marcia Smith, brother-in-law Jerry Mahloch and niece Amy Jackson rejoice at his arrival.
