Obituary

Donald V. Kimps, age 92, of Howard, WI passed away peacefully at his home on November 16, 2017.  Don began his journey of life on April 2, 1925, born to William and Rose (Peters) Kimps in Mill Center, WI.  He attended school in the Suamico and Pulaski areas.

Don was proud to serve his country in the United States Army.  His service began in 1943 where he spent 32 months throughout the South Pacific during WWII.  He was awarded a Phillipine Liberation Ribbon with (1) Bronze Star during this time.  Don later spent many years in the WI Army Reserves where he served in Germany during the Korean War.

During his service Don was supported by his loving wife Charlotte (Addison) Kimps.  They married on Nov 15, 1948.  Don worked for James River Corp for 39 years, until retiring in 1984.  He spent 20 years as a volunteer firefighter in the Town of Suamico and also served on the Suamico School Board.

Don and Char enjoyed traveling with their family.  Don had many hobbies which included woodworking, golfing, stamp and coin collecting.  He even built the home he raised his family in.  Don took the most pride in his gardening.  He loved creating gladiolus hybrids and tending to his large vegetable gardens.

His devoted companion, Rose Ann Wygralak, survives Don along with his 5 children and their spouses: Gwynn (Tim) Jones, Deborah (Mike) Scheiber, Charles (Mary O'Brien) Kimps, Tayo (Nancy) Kimps, and Robin Kimps; 10  grandchildren: Katie (Bill) Archer, Matt (Bobbi Jo) Scheiber, Samuel (Stephanie) Scheiber, Luke (Nicole) Scheiber, Zachary (Laura) Jones, Kaysie Kimps, Andrea (Jason) Bader, Chessa Kimps, Nicholas Kimps, and Emily (Lee) Bowie;  9 great grandchildren: Madelyn and Camden Scheiber, Imogen Scheiber, Levi and Emerson Scheiber, Ragnar Jones, Cal and Maren Bader, and Radley Andrews.  He is also survived by his sister, Lorraine Jorgenson.

Don was preceded in death by his loving wife Charlotte Kimps (October 15, 1997), his parents and his siblings: Winford Kimps, Roland Kimps, Viola Hintz, and Silvia Cumber.
