Obituary

Earl Richard "Dick" Axelson, age 91 of Green Bay, passed away on September 6, 2023. He was born on July 17, 1932, in Stambaugh, MI, to the late Earl and Mary (Konwinski) Axelson. Dick was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, class of 1950, in Yipsilanti, MI.

Dick enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed at Naval Air bases in Newfoundland, Novia Scotia and Key West, Florida. After his honorable discharge in 1955, he met Arlene Lindstrom and they were wed on June 2, 1956, at Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay.

He was employed at Northern Paper Mill and later at Wisconsin Public Service. He was an electrician repairing transformers and retired after 28 years. Dick was a member of several bowling and golf leagues earning many awards and was especially proud of his 'Hole in One' trophy. He was also an auxiliary policeman helping crowd control at Packer games and a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. After retirement he enjoyed refinishing furniture until his eye sight failed. He and Arlene traveled many years in their RV and spent many winters in South Texas.

Dick is survived by his loving and caring wife of 67 years, Arlene; his son Russell, Melbourne, FL; his daughter Valerie (Mike) Seidl, Appleton; 4 grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, Brandon, and Jessica; 4 great-grandchildren, Austin, Aubrey, Carter, and Caleb; sisters, Patricia (Frank) and Donna; brother-in-law, Charles Lindstrom; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald; his parents; brothers, Ward and Bruce; brother-in-law, Floyd Brekke; and 2 nephews, Tim and Tony.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church (330 S Broadway, Green Bay) from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM. Dick will be laid to rest at Ft. Howard Cemetery. Online condolences are welcome at www.PfotenhauerFuneralHome.com.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Woodside Assisted Living, especially Kim, Sara, Carol, and Tracey, for their care during Earl's time spent at Woodside. The family would also like to thank Unity Hospice Care for their care and compassion during the last months, and everyone who came to visit Earl.
