Obituary

Elaine J. Dorvinen, 84, passed away on September 17, 2025. She was born on May 22, 1941, to the late Leeland and Viola Alsteen in Lena. She married Lawrence Dorvinen on February 6, 1965, and together they celebrated 46 years of marriage together before his passing in 2011.

In High School, she won the Betty Crocker Award. She was an excellent cook and everyone was welcome at the table. An active volunteer at St. John the Baptist, Paul's Pantry, St. Vincent DePaul and the Scouts. She was a proud mother of three Eagle Scout sons and four Eagle Scout grandsons. She enjoyed the "social" aspect of aqua walking at the YMCA. Strangers were not for long, as a conversation was soon to be had. She was an active gardener at her house. She loved rummaging and hitting the DePere Christian Outreach Thrift Store with family and lifelong friends Pat, Bev, and Lori.

Elaine is survived by her sons, Mark (Luann) Dorvinen, Steven (Mary) Dorvinen, Michael (Kari) Dorvinen; grandchildren, Sam, Alex, Emma, Isabelle, Olivia, Aaron, Adam, and Ty; stepdaughter, Lori Hessoun; stepgrandchildren, Lawrence III, Paige, Sarah, Shannon, John, Michael, and Jessica; siblings, Yvonne (Donald) Brault, Milton (Kathy) Alsteen, and Linda Jacobini; brother-in-law, Alvin Strom. She is further survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved them all.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence R. Dorvinen; parents; stepchildren, Lawrence Jr. Dorvinen and Lynn Tarantino; step son-in-law, Tim Hessoun; siblings, Sandy Strom, Dean Alsteen, and Cletus Alsteen; and brother-in-law, David Jacobini.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Howard (2597 Glendale Ave, entrance directly across from the BP gas station) from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM.

Heartfelt thank you to the care provided the last few years at Meadowbrook and St. Clare of Oconto Falls.
