Elspeth M.
Bryant
May 14, 1946 — Dec 31, 2023
Elspeth M. Bryant, 77, passed away on December 31, 2023, following a 2.5 year struggle with Dementia. She was born on May 14, 1946, to the late Richard and Eleanor Padfield in Cheltenham, England. Elspeth was raised on a farm and lived in England until she met the love of her life, Claude Bryant Jr., while they were both on vacation in Spain. After a 3 year courtship, Elspeth and Claude were married in Alabama. They were just short of celebrating their 48th wedding anniversary. Together they have raised two children, Russell and Anna.
Having moved around a lot from Claude's military service, Elspeth and Claude settled in Wisconsin in 1992, his final station. Although Elspeth had obtained a nursing degree in England, the US did not recognize her license and after having children, she stayed home with them until she decided to go back to work as a certified nursing assistant. She worked at Cardinal Ridge in Howard and continued to volunteer there after retirement.
Some of the many hobbies Elspeth enjoyed included gardening, taking part in a bowling league, and being Claude's "spotter" in golf. She also loved to travel. After graduating University, she traveled the world including Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. She was a wonderful wife and Mum and will be very missed.
Elspeth is survived by her loving husband, Claude Paul; two children, Russell and Anna; brother, Nigel and wife Alice and their daughter, Muna; brother, Richard and wife Hazel and their children, Chris, Kate, and Jonathan; and brother-in-law, Richard Shields.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Eleanor; parents-in-law, Claude and Mildred Bryant; great aunt, Kathleen Padfield; and nephew, Ben.
