Eugene K. Mead, 84, Green Bay, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Unity Hospice. He was born on Nov. 1, 1931 to the late Frank and Cecelia (Carpiaux) Mead. Eugene graduated from Green Bay East High School where he enjoyed and excelled in baseball, basketball and track. He married his high school sweetheart Pat Roskom on July 21, 1951 in Green Bay. Eugene lived in the Green Bay area all his life and was employed as a mill supervisor at Georgia Pacific for 39 years until retiring in 1990. He loved golfing, bowling, camping, hunting, fishing and was an avid Packer fan. Gene was a loving husband, father and grandpa. He was a thoughtful positive family man who would spread his wisdom. He was involved and gave back to his community in many ways such as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, a Eucharistic minister at St. Bernard Church and past president of the Green Bay Community Service Club.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; children, Mike (Jeanine); Tim (Debbie); Jeff (Jody); Todd (Anne); grandchildren, Scott (Liana); Christopher (Jen); Shaun (Liz); Danny (Katie) Mead; Kristi (Dustin) Eggebrecht; Melanie (Sam) Johnson; Sarah; Josh; Sam Mead; great grandchildren, Linden, Emmett, Jackson, Andrew, Henry, Brayden, and Levi Mead; brother, Frank (Marge) Mead. Further survived by friends and relatives.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack; sister-in-law, Ramona.
Family and friends may call at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 from 9 until 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. at the church with Bishop Robert F. Morneau officiating. Online condolences welcome at www.PfotenhauerFuneralHome.com
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Blake, Bellin Hospital and Unity Hospice (especially Molly, his guardian angel).
