Obituary

Frank J. Horkman, 62, Town of Humbolt, went peacefully home to Heaven on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 surrounded by his family's love and care. He was born on July 18, 1961, in the Town of Humboldt to the late Elmer and Loretta (Enderby) Horkman. He was the second youngest of nine children. After he graduated from Preble High School, Frank worked at Gene's Deep Rock, Jelco, Laidlaw, First Student, and Konop Vending Companies. He was employed by Konop for 26 years and retired in 2023.

Frank married Lori G. Laurant on March 28, 1992. Together they raised four children throughout their 31 years of marriage. Frank was a devoted husband and father who always put the needs of his family first.

Frank loved the outdoors, and in his younger years, he was an avid fisherman. Likewise, he enjoyed hunting, whether it was with his brothers up North or with his son Joshua on his land. He played for several volleyball and baseball teams during his life. Frank also liked to play cards, go camping, and to just sit by a bonfire with his family.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and took pride in watching his children serve Mass as well as singing in the Choir. He was also a member of the New Franken Sportsman Club, where he served on the board, taught hunter safety, and shot trap for many years.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Loretta Horkman, his brother Joseph Horkman, his nephew Robert Horkman, and great nephew Bret Horkman.  Frank is survived by his loving wife Lori Horkman, and their children, Jonathan Horkman, Joshua Horkman, Kallie Horkman, Kaitlyn Horkman, and his granddaughter, Alana Horkman.

Frank was the second youngest of nine children, he leaves behind seven siblings and their spouses. They include Wayne Horkman and children Brenda, Brian, Brandon, Brooke, and Ben; Dan Horkman and children Angie, Andy, Katie, and Nathan; Barb Horkman; Dave Horkman (Jean) and children Amy, Krissy, Ryan, Robert, and James; Mike Horkman (Debbie) and children Scott and Jeremy; Steve Horkman (Gail) and children Stephanie, Ben and Holly; Joseph Horkman; Patti Gregorich (Steve) and children Nicole, Melanie, Jason, Jesse, Rebekah and Rachel as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Frank loved all his canine companions and furry feline. His presence will be missed by both Whiskey and Reilly.

Throughout his life, Frank touched the lives of so many. His quick wit brought a smile to those around him and made their day a little brighter. We will always love and miss you until we can meet again.
