Obituary

Our Dad was a lover of trees, campfires, bird feeding, fishing and woodworking projects.

Born the only child to John and Fern (Foss) Waters on January 1 st , 1941 in Breckenridge, MN, the family moved to Green Bay when he was young.  He lived most of his life in the Green Bay area.  He graduated Preble High School in 1959.   On June 4 th 1966, he married Rita Mae Boyd in Germfask MI.  It was at this time he started G Waters Construction in the Howard/Suamico area.  He built homes and remodeled for over 45 years until he retired to care for Rita during her struggles with Alzheimers.  In Stiles, WI was the last home he built, designed to care for Rita at home.  Rita lost her fight with the disease on 3/24/2009.  He loved her and missed her deeply.

Since then many friends help fill the void and Dad remained active in doing small remodel jobs, woodworking, splitting firewood and lots of fishing-both summer and winter.  He was always there to lend a hand to any of his children or to a friend when asked.  At this time, he met Monica Nauman and they enjoyed many dinners, events and activities throughout the past 10 years.

As his children, we got to experience camping , fishing, hunting, downhill skiing and afternoon family road trips.  Anything outdoors was how our Dad enjoyed his time and he passed that onto his children.  He took pleasure in seeing his grandchildren grow in love of the same interests he loved so much.   You could always find Gayle sitting around a campfire-even on Platten Street where he spent his final 2 years.

Our Dad lived with IPF for many years, but the last two years restricted how much he could do.  He was blessed to have many good friends to take him fishing when he could, keep him company when he could not and just making a phone call to brighten his day.  Thank you Monica, Bob and Patty, Delores and Bruce, Tom and Nancy, Dave and Laurel, Bill and Vickie, Ron and Karen, Al and Diane, Darrell and Judy, and Al and Rosie

Living on Platten Street, Dad had neighbors who looked out for him and lended a hand when needed.  Thank you Bill and Mike for your friendship.  Your kindness did not go unnoticed by the family.

These last months, Dad was blessed to have a caring Heartland Hospice team of Janna, Joanne, Karen and Spiritual Adviser Chaplain Brooks.  We are grateful for your loving attention.

Our Dad went to join Rita on Monday December 23 rd , 2019.  He was able to speak with all of his children that day and we will miss him.    He is survived by his children: Sheila (Bill) Thoma-New London, WI, Nick (Tracie) Waters-Lenoir City, TN, Wendy (Dan) Follett-Ashwaubenon, WI and Chad (Lisa) Waters-Ashwaubenon, WI.  He cherished his grandchildren: Levi and Tucker Waters, Zachary and William Follett, Jack, Matthew and Lily Waters, and Allyshia Thoma-Bill's daughter.
