George Blake, 94, of Duck Creek, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was born on November 4, 1930, to the late George and Marie Blake. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, George served his country from 1948 to 1952. He was a Free Mason at Washington Lodge #0021 in Green Bay. He worked in the engineering field, retiring from Carver Yachts in 1993.
George was married to Shirley for 35 wonderful years, sharing a life full of love and companionship. Known for his kind heart and gentle spirit, George never had a single enemy — everyone who met him loved him.
He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
George is survived by his loving wife Shirley (Young) (Motiff) Blake; children Christine Blake, Debra Blake (Gene) Syring, Steven (Julie) Motiff, Mark (Cheryl) Motiff, John (Brooke) Motiff; grandchildren, Jesse (Christopher) Syring, Danny Fournier, Marty (Jessica) Syring, Amanda (Brian) Fournier, Mckenzie Komorowski, Kathryn Blake, Matt (Melanie) Motiff, Stephanie (Lynn) Chheang, Heidi (Addison) Silverthorn, Taylor Motiff, Ashlyn Motiff, Whitney (Adam) Multerer, Hunter Motiff, Rachel Giefer, Taylor (Luke) Joski, Jordan Giefer; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Joan (Blake) VanHoosen; brothers-in-law, Phil (Sue) Young, Richard (Mary) Young, Dennis ( CJ) Young, Jeff (Nancy) Young; sisters-in-law, Nancy Blake, Judy Blake; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Marie Blake; children, Michael Blake, Julie (Blake) Parron, Robert Blake, Teri Motiff; brothers, Donald Blake, Gerald Blake; sister, Karen Blake; mother-in-law, Helen Young; brother-in-law, Dale VanHoosen; grandson, Ryan Giefer.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, at Saint John the Baptist Church in Howard (2597 Glendale Ave, entrance directly across from the BP gas station) from 03:00pm to 04:00pm, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 04:00pm. Immediately following mass military honors will be conducted.
The family would like to thank Unity Hospice, especially Kelly and Rabihah. In-lieu of flowers, the family will be making donations to organizations that George was a part of.
