Gerald J. (Jerry) Akkala passed away peacefully with his fiancée, Sue, at his side, after a short battle with Pulmonary fibrosis at a local hospital, on December 19, 2021.

He was born on October 8, 1940, in Marquette, Michigan, to the late John M. and Jean M. (Lindblad) Akkala.

He was a 1958 graduate of Graveraet High School in Marquette. He attended Northern Michigan University and was a graduate of NWTI and UW-GB. He proudly served in the US Army in a Military Police Unit in Germany.

Jerry and Sue spent several weeks each summer in the Munising, Michigan area near the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on Lake Superior.

Jerry is survived by his fiancée of many years, Susan Pavlik, her nephew, Chris Jenquin, and many friends and neighbors.
