Gerald J. Schmidt, 65, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, with his family by his side after a long-fought battle with cancer. Gerald was born and raised in Green Bay and was most recently working as a floor supervisor within the trucking industry. Gerald married Cheri Verheyen on September 20, 1994. He loved hunting and fishing but was best known for being a 'handy man extraordinaire'. He could work on anything, having an innate skill of fixing pretty much anything he was tasked to. Gerald helped anyone he could, his kind and caring spirit will be missed immensely.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Cheri; children, Gerald Jr. (Laura) and Kerry; grandchildren, Jayden and Jaxyn; sisters, Rose (Ole) Dunham and Mary Lou Emmert; sister-in-law, Rita Schmidt and many more family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Olive; siblings, Sally (John) Peters, Linda (Gordon) Rhoat, Bonnie Long, Carol Raymond, Cindy (Roy) Shanks, and Roy Schmidt; mother-in-law, Patricia Verheyen and brothers-in-law, Jeffrey Verheyen and David Verheyen.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, February 28 from 12:00 – 2:30 PM and a service to follow at Ft. Howard Memorial Park, 1350 N Military Ave. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Gerald's name has been established.

Family would like to thank Unity Hospice for their care and compassion during this time. Special thanks to Moe for keeping Gerald and his family in good spirits - your humor and kindness has truly been a light during this journey.
