Gladys Calewarts, 89, passed away on September 16, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 30, 1934 to the late Alfonse and Ester Moes. On June 12, 1954, Gladys married Leon Calewarts and together they have celebrated 70 years of marriage.

Gladys had a strong faith, she was a matriarch of the church where she started many committees and was a member of the choir. She was also a charter member of the Howard Suamico Optimist Club. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother; she loved going to all of their athletic events to cheer them on. She loved to go fishing at the cottage and catching more fish than Dad. Gladys was a Packer season ticket holder fan since 1951 and followed them to numerous Super Bowls, as well as attending a few Badger bowl games. She loved to teach her children how to cook and bake and had a sweet tooth the size of Texas.

Gladys is survived by her loving husband, Leon; children, Debbie (Mark) Habeck, Karen (Joseph) Femling, and Kevin (Wendy) Calewarts; grandchildren, Jerod (Jesse) Habeck, Jonathan (Karla) Habeck, Jason (Katie) Habeck, Cortney (Bryant) Gerbers, Tyler (Jade) Femling, Samantha (Zach) Nasto, and Logan Calewarts; great grandchildren, Addison, Alyssa, Austin, MacKenzie, Taylor and Mya Habeck; Gavin and Skylar Gerbers & Giuliana, Rayne, and Rome Nasto; and sister, Arlene (Jack) DeGroot.

She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Cheryl L. Calewarts.

Family and friends may call on Friday, September 20 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2736 Glendale Ave. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM.
