Obituary

On Tuesday morning, December 11th, 2018, Glen Brey peacefully passed away at his home in Green Bay, WI. after a long battle with cancer. He was 79yrs old.

Glen Gordon Brey was born to Bertha Nerhing and William Brey on October 22nd, 1939, in Poy Sippi, Wis. Corn fed and raised on the farm with his brothers his childhood was typically a happy one. Educated at Berlin High school, Berlin, WI. and graduated in 1957, in June of that same year he enlisted in the United States Marines; serving 4 years overseas as a security guard to the Consulate in Calcutta, India. He studied at UW-Green Bay and UWM School of Continuing Education. His work skill set served him well throughout his career and in later years the City of Green Bay Park Dept., retiring in 2002. He held a barman position at Napalese Lounge and helped out at other local bars. He was a proud member of the Argonauts and contributed to raising funds for local charities and causes throughout the years as well as the yearly club events.

His knowledgeable palate regarding history, music, art and life was impressive. He reveled in reading his books( four at a time ) . Some of his favorite authors included James Patterson, David Eddings and Lee Child. He had eclectic taste in music and in his friends.

Glen's fondness for life was unmatched for his love of food and cooking; talented in this field he relished in sharing and baking for others and on occasion dined with delight at his favorite Supper Club hot spots. Other gratifications included the Packers, scratch offs, puzzles and crosswords; as well as maintaining his beautifully kept back yard gardens and well fed birds.

Glen adored the outdoors and fishing, his favorite retreat was a beautiful cabin called"Trainors Treat" located on Sunday Lake in Minocqua, WI. He valued his leisure moments there a lot and cherished passing time with his esteemed best friend Richard Trainor even more. He looked forward to his Wednesday morning breakfast get togethers with his buddies and zipping around town visiting friends. The light of his life was a very affectionate dog named Sephra. She went everywhere he did; even up to his final day she never left his side. He loved her so very much.

He will be remembered for his service to our country, humorous teasing, boisterous spirit, candor and generosity. At times a man of few words, he was simple and humble with a tough cowboy exterior and undeniably big heart. His signature facial expressions and stories were never shy of entertaining. The Love for his family and friends was unwavering.

Glen is preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Kermit, Norman, and William Brey. Survived by his brothers James and Eugene Brey, niece's and nephews. His close friends and all that knew and loved him.

A celebration of life is planned Jan 26, 2019 at Nepalese Lounge and Grille. 1351 Cedar St. Green Bay, WI 54302. Anyone wishing to bring a dish to pass please do, Glen had a love for food.
