Obituary

Gregory Allen Latimer passed away Sunday, June 4th, 2023, surrounded by his immediate family following a 12-year battle with colon cancer. He is the strongest man we know, and his beautiful presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Greg was born April 2nd, 1964, in Lincoln, Nebraska. He grew up in Orlando, Florida and graduated from Colonial High School in 1982. Greg wrestled in high school and met many of his lifelong friends there. He discovered his passion for the grocery industry early on; he started at Thrifty Scott in Orlando, and moved all over the country working at Gooding's, Cub Foods, and Food Max. He moved to Peshtigo, Wisconsin, marrying Bonnie Behnke in June of 1995. That same year he started working for Angeli Foods until 2016. Greg retired from his successful grocery career with Skogens Festival Foods in Green Bay in December 2022.

Greg and Bonnie raised their two daughters Nicole and Miranda in Peshtigo surrounded by the Behnke family and many friends.

Greg believed in giving monetarily as well as his time and talents to many organizations over the years. He coached many seasons of Softball and Baseball for Marinette Babe Ruth's, Project Give, MACC Fund Over the Edge- Repelling from a 10-story building for childhood blood diseases in September 2022. He coordinated and served a few meals at St. John's Homeless Shelter and represented Festival Foods in the Lighting of the Christmas Tree at Lambeau Field and presented for the Northeast Wisconsin High School sports awards at Lambeau. He enjoyed playing golf and was a lover of all things nature. He was a Foodie, with a passion for creating and enjoying beautiful and delicious meals. Greg enjoyed his family, traveling, meeting people and developing relationships. He was the ultimate "people person".

On October 13th, 2018, Greg married Patricia Lee Charlock in Suamico, WI. Greg and Trish enjoyed a much too short but beautiful life together. Greg imprinted himself on Trish's family and children and will be forever in their hearts.

Greg fought a long battle with cancer with little reprieve from the disease for 12 years. He had operations and countless treatments over the years. The last two years of his life he was receiving high dose chemotherapy every other week. You would never have guessed he was going through so much and that he felt sick often if you met him. He was the picture of positivity. We are so grateful for the time we had with Greg; he made all our lives richer for knowing him. He will always be known as the most special husband, father, stepfather, son, brother, friend, grandpa/papa and "dog park guy".

Greg is preceded in death by grandparents: Jean "Nanny" Latimer, Charles "Pa" Latimer, Floyd Hacker and Opel Hacker, his Father Ronald Latimer, his birth mother Carole Rader, uncle Rodger Latimer and brother Jay J Rader.

Greg is survived by his wife Trish Latimer, his daughters Nicole (Marc) Pisani, and Miranda Latimer, his stepchildren Amber (Mike) O'Brien, Brooke (Mitchell) Bemis, MacKenzie "Mack" Cayo, his mother Linda Latimer, his brother Darrin (Becky) Latimer, sister Caroline Broshear, his four beautiful grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Owen and Gemma, and many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews as well as his Australian Shephard/Collie mix Layla.

Special thanks to Dr. Amritha Karkera, and the entire staff at the Aurora Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, Aurora at Home Hospice care nurse Tracy and social worker Stephanie. We are so grateful for your compassionate care of Greg.
