Jack A.
Belongia
Nov 17, 1940 — May 5, 2026
Jack A. Belongia, 85, passed away peacefully at home on May 5, 2026, with family by his side. He was born on November 17, 1940, to the late Isaac and Ruth (Petersen) Belongia in Chicago, IL. Jack was raised in Oconto by his mother after the death of his father in 1945. From 1959 – 1965, Jack served in the United States Marine Corps and was a proud veteran.
On October 1, 1966, Jack married Patricia M. Gould and together they celebrated 53 years of marriage before her passing in 2019. After working for Fort Howard Paper Company as a mill worker for 32 years, Jack retired in 1998. He was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Webelo Leader, and Boy Scout Leader. He loved hunting and fishing and was an active member at the Oconto Sportsmen's Club. For years, he was known as "The Fry Guy" at the annual Perch Derby. He was also a proud member of the American Legion. During his working years, he was a league bowler and earned the nickname "Grandpa" as the oldest member of the Fort Howard Softball team. Ironically, he was one of the best on the team.
He is survived by his daughter, Beth (John) Courtney and granddaughters, Jennafer (Ben) Winesett, Brynn Kowalefski (Josh Bobrowksi), and Claire Kowalefski (Will Hallmark); son, Alan (Sandie) Belongia and step grandsons, Graham DeWitt and Wesley (Rebecca) Cox; brother, Robert (Sue) Belongia; and nieces, Kellie Belongia, and Jodi (David) VanErem.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia M. Belongia; parents; and brother-in-law, William Gould.
A memorial gathering with refreshments will be held on Saturday, June 27, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1145 Cardinal Lane. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Oconto Sportsmen's Club; funds will be used for the yearly scholarship or for Youth Day equipment in Jack's name. Please make checks payable to Oconto Sportsmen's Club.
