Jack
Salewski
Feb 3, 1939 — Apr 1, 2018
Jack Salewski, 79, Green Bay resident, was released from his earthly burden of Lewy Body Dementia on April 1, 2018, with his family by his side. He will be joining other family members and friends in heaven with a restored mind and body. Jack was born on the family farm in Coleman on February 3, 1939 to the late Myron and Adeline (Brault) Salewski. He graduated from Coleman High School in 1957. He married Bev Behling on November 7, 1959, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Brookside, WI.
Jack proudly served his country in the Wisconsin National Guard 32d Red Arrow Division during the Berlin Crisis. He then moved his family to Green Bay in 1963 starting his lifelong career at Fort Howard Paper Company where he worked for 35 years as a supervisor in the Maintenance Department Pipe Shop. Upon his retirement in 1998, he went on to serve Our Saviour Lutheran Church as a Trustee (or better known as a volunteer grounds keeper and maintenance man). He also served as a member of the Planning Commission for the Town of Green Bay.
In his free time Jack enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was never too busy to help others by doing repairs, building or plumbing projects. His favorite actives included fishing, cards with friends, woodworking, travel, attending his grandchildren's events, boating, hunting, and snowmobiling. He was always willing to go for a Sunday afternoon ride that included a "short cut" ending with a stop at the local ice cream shop.
Jack's legacy lives on through his wife, Bev; Children Kevin (Sue) Salewski, Kim (Randy) Ronsman; Grandchildren, Katy (Kelley) Krouth, Josh (Nicole) Salewski, Zachary Salewski and Alex Ronsman; Great Grandchildren, Jack and Henry Krouth, and Gwendolyn Salewski; Siblings, his twin sister Jacqueline (Merlin) Behling, Allen (Donna) Salewski, Jerry Salewski, Sally (Allen) Olsen, Howard (Gaynell) Salewski, Jean (Mick) Merriman. Jack is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack will be greeted in heaven by his parents, Myron and Blanch Salewski, his brothers, David and Pat Salewski, sisters- in-law Earline and Arbutus Salewski, mother and father- in-law Walter and Frances Behling, brother-in-law Elroy (Betty) Behling and sister-in-law Elva (Paul) Eggert. Along with other friends and acquaintances.
Friends may call at OUR SAVIOUR LUTHERAN CHURCH, 120 South Henry Street, Green Bay, WI 54302 on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service celebrating his life at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. David Hatch will be officiating. A private burial will take place at Nicolet Memorial Garden. Online condolences may be sent to the Salewski Family at www.PfotehauerFuneralHome.com.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial funds will be established in Jack's name to Our Saviour Lutheran Church and Unity Hospice.
Jack's family extends their gratitude to the staffs of Autumn's Promise Assisted Living and Unity Hospice for their support and compassionate care during the last chapter of his life.
