Jackie M.
Walker
Dec 23, 1937 — Feb 19, 2023
Jackie (Kasper) Walker, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2023, with her loving family by her side after a short illness. She was born on December 23, 1937, to Helen Kasper. On May 7, 1960, Jackie married her soulmate Curt Walker of Green Bay and together they celebrated 37 years of marriage before Curt's passing on February 26, 1997.
Jackie graduated from Pulaski High School in 1956 and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Oshkosh in 1958. She worked as an RN at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay in the pediatrics department prior to starting a family of seven children. Her background in pediatrics provided the perfect training for her lifelong calling, which was to be an exceptional, caring mother and role model to her seven children.
As her children grew, Jackie was involved in various school activities, including playground and teacher's aide, school board secretary, and multiple fund-raising activities. She also attended more sporting and school events than can be counted and was always her children's number one fan.
Volunteering was Jackie's true calling and her second career. As a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Howard, she served on the Social Concerns Committee. As a member and later president of this committee, Jackie served our community for over 25 years at the NEW Community Shelter. Jackie loved to sing and used this gift to celebrate the lives of others as a member of the funeral choir.
Jackie also served on the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and had the privilege of being parish, Vicariate, and division president. In recognition of her work on programs such as Respite and Let's Lick Family Violence, Jackie was awarded the Our Lady of Good Counsel award from the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. Jackie was a true model of living your faith.
One of Jackie's favorite places in the world was the cottage at Found Lake in St. Germain. The cottage was a sanctuary of God's beauty for Jackie, where she enjoyed laughter around the campfire, fantastic meals, long walks, and her favorite pastime – fishing (preferably catching). She enjoyed playing games, especially cards, Farkle, and her beloved Wheel of Fortune. Jackie's grandchildren were her greatest joy – she never missed important milestones in their lives. Jackie was an avid sports fan who loved to watch state sports teams including high school sports, the Bucks, Brewers, the Packers, and the Badgers. She had the privilege of taking two trips to watch the Badgers in the Final Four tournament.
Jackie is survived by her children: Doug Walker, Carolyn Fredericks (husband Phil Kaschub), Dan (Sherri) Walker, Nancy (Scott) Miller, Lori (Dan) White, and David Walker (special friend Jennifer Mason). Further survived by her cherished grandchildren: Morgan, Madelyn and Margo Fredericks (Aske); Sam, Adam, and Margaret Walker; Henry (Maggie), Julia, and Charlie Heim; Isabelle, Harrison and Max Walker; Marcus, Mackenzie (Erin), and Mitchell Miller; Ryan Frehse, Nick (Ashley) and Max (Katie) White; and Jackie's treasured great grandchildren: Phoebe and James; as well as her sister-in-law Shirley (Daryl) Fiene, brother-in-law Jim Walker; nieces, nephews, other relatives, close friends, and faithful dog Marty.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate Curt Walker, son Robert, sons-in-law: Mark Fredericks, David Heim, and John Williams; brother-in-law: Jack (Mary Ann) Walker, and sister-in-law: Patty Walker.
