Laster Iii
Mar 10, 1964 — Aug 27, 2025
James "JC" Laster III, 61, passed away on August 27, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born on March 10, 1964, to the late James Jr. and Stephanie (Scott) Laster in Pontiac, MI. He graduated from Linden High School in 1982 and attended Motts Community College for a few years before joining the United States Navy in 1985. JC proudly served for 20 years before retiring from the military in 2005. He continued working at Burger Boat Manufacturing in Manitowoc and later Expidor Manufacturing, until he could no longer work due to the progression of his diagnosis.
Outside of the Navy, JC enjoyed traveling all over the world, especially with his wife, Deb. He also enjoyed working on household projects and tending to the yard and garden, which was his pride and joy, and working on his model railroads. He was a member of the Green Bay Railroad Club and of American Legion Post 11. JC loved his family and grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them.
JC is survived by his loving wife, Debra "Deb" Laster; son, Aaron (Nicole) Laster; stepsons, Ross Wilson and Logan (Kym) Wilson; grandchildren, Avery, Nova, and Avina Laster; brothers, Matt Laster Sr. and Christopher Laster; sister, Kassandra Laster; cousins, Eva, Deb, and Trish; close friends, Lenny Schmidt and Rob Firestone; all of JC's fellow shipmates; and many more family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, September 20 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Services, East Town location, 2379 E Mason St. A memorial service and Military Honors will immediately follow at 1:00 PM.
Family would like to thank the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, especially Dr. Yasar and her staff and the oncology floor Aurora BayCare and Aurora Hospice Care for their compassion and keeping JC comfortable during this time.
JC's generosity continued even after his passing through his donation to the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin.
