Obituary

James "Jim" Norbert Morrison, 78, beloved husband, father, and grandpa passed into eternal life January 17th, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years Linda, the former Linda Bergsbaken. Loving father of Rochelle and Greg (Sharon Wilson, fiancé). Treasured grandpa of Chase.

His survivors include: a sister, Judy Henry (Steve), brothers in law, Dan Bergsbaken (Karen), Mark Bergsbaken (Joanne), Ron Bergsbaken, Terry Bergsbaken (Barb), and Randy Bergsbaken (Beth), sisters in law, Julie Hansetter (Russ) and Kathy Homan (Jeff) as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Norbert and Mae (Nygaard) Morrison, father and mother-in-law, Willis, and Doris (Blodgett) Bergsbaken, brothers in law, Jan and Kevin Bergsbaken, nephews, Keith Henry, and Jake Bergsbaken.

Jim was born on June 24th, 1945, in Oconto, WI. He graduated from Premontre High School in 1963. In 1961, he began playing with The Centuries and they continued to be the 2nd Century band playing continuously for 39 years. Other bands include The Originals, 3's Company, Amy and the Cruisers, Fork in the Road, and Two for the Show. Jim celebrated playing 60 years of music in July 2021 when he then retired.

He was drafted into the Army in 1966 and was blessed to go to the Panama Canal zone to drive a Jeep for a General. In 1968, he was honorably discharged.

Following his honorable discharge, Jim started his career at Wisconsin Public Service and put in thirty-six successful years until he retired in 2004. He began in the Nuclear department with many different roles and ended as a lobbyist. As busy as Jim was, he graduated from the University of Maryland in 1986 with a degree in management while maintaining a 4.0.

On January 1st, 1974, he joined the Howard Suamico Optimist Club. Although holding numerous positions including president, secretary, and board member, the highest honor was receiving the Life Member award on October 31st, 1986.

Jim was an active member at St. John the Baptist parish, where he was part of the choir, funeral choir, finance committee, and parish council, just to name a few.

As a member of the Chamber of Commerce for many years, he graduated in 1994 from Leadership Green Bay; he then went on to receive the highest honor, The Daniel Whitney Award.

He had a successful career as a professional speaker while being a member of the Wisconsin Speakers Association and National Speakers Association. The WSA awarded him with the Spirit of Excellence award.

Jim loved his family, his grandson, packer games, community events, most of all being an entertainer. He cherished Saturdays Off by the Pool, Taco Night, and Fondue Dinners with his family. His greatest joy was the starter on the number on tee box at Thornberry Creek. He treated Rochelle, Greg and Chase's friends with warmth and love as if he were their dad/grandpa.

Friends and family may call at Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Howard Suamico location (1145 Cardinal Lane) on Thursday, January 25 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday, January 26 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (one quarter mile east on the corner of Cardinal Ln. and Glendale Ave.; entrance directly across from the BP gas station). Jim and his family would like to thank the First Responders, the staff at St. Vincent Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital and a Special thanks to Unity Hospice for all they have done through this journey.
