James A.
Shipley
Jul 25, 1941 — Feb 19, 2022
James A. Shipley, 80, passed away at home on February 19, 2022. He was born on July 25, 1941, to the late Eugene and Nathalie (Nelson) Shipley. After graduating from Pulaski High School in 1959, Jim served in the United States Navy for 6 years, two of which were active duty. He then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in accounting from UW – Steven's Point.
In high school, Jim held the most points scored by an individual, in an individual game of basketball, for many years. He then went on to play baseball during his college years. For most of his working career, he worked at Dean Foods company until retirement. In his earlier years, he enjoyed being part owner of Harbor Lights Resort in Suamico. Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, gardening, golfing, watching sports and cooking shows, being at his cottage, tinkering around the house and on cars with his son, and spending time with his grandkids, especially his "little angels," Julia and Jevyn. Jim was especially known for being a great cook and as the 'pickle man,' as he would give ice cream pails full of homemade refrigerated pickles to his siblings each year. Jim was an avid snowmobiler and was a member and treasurer of the Knight Riders snowmobile club for many years.
Jim is survived by his son, Jameson (Nicole) Shipley; grandchildren, Julia, Jevyn, Melinda, Alex, and Bre; siblings, Dianne Berendsen, Karen (Gary) Gutzman, Kay (Chap) Spejcher, Jean (John) Halvorsen, Laurie Calewarts, Tim (RuthAnn) Shipley, Kerry (Dolores) Shipley, and Lisa (Mike) Babiash; former wife, Fay (Powell) Shipley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother and sister-in-law, John and Marilyn Shipley.
