Clark
Jun 3, 1930 — Feb 16, 2023
Janet Mary (Lasee) Clark, 92, a longtime resident of Suamico, died peacefully February 16 th , 2023. Janet was born June 3 rd , 1930, on a farm in DePere, WI to Joseph and Florence (VandeHei) Lasee. Janet was a graduate of DePere High School. She fell in love and married the love of her life Howard Thiem. Together they had three beautiful Children. During her time with Howard, they both shared a love for horses. Janet spent long hours training her well known Palomino Stallion "Golden Briar," a trick and parade horse. Howard lost his life tragically in a work accident. Janet then married Jerome Clark and added four additional loved children to their home in Oneida, WI. Together they created "Pine Ridge Farm," Where they raised the family along with Hereford Beef Cattle, ponies and horses of all breeds and helped create the foundation for the Pony of America (POA) breed today. They divorced in 1976.
She moved to Suamico where she continued to pursue her love of beef cattle and equine of all types working alongside her lifelong friend George Vickery. Janet spent numerous hours working as leader for the Brown County Fair, as Horse Superintendent with over 30 years of dedicated service. Her love of animals expanded to miniature horses, miniature donkeys, llamas, a variety of fancy rabbits, ducks, geese, many breeds of goats and sheep and a plethora of small animals and even a camel. She also happily worked for the Howard Animal Hospital for many years. She shared her love of animals with hands on experience by exhibiting her animals at petting zoos at many of the local annual celebrations including Bay Fest, Oneida Pow Wow, Seymour Hamburger Fest and many Fire and Church Picnics.
She met and made many friends who shared this same love of animals. She spent the biggest part of her days dedicated to chores and making sure her animals were well taken care of.
Janet lived by her own special calendar, lambing season, Calving season, foal season, Haying season – and it was always baby goat season. At most times she had a baby goat in the house on the mend. She was a lifetime member of the Border Collie Association, Miniature Zebu Association, and Boar Goat Association among many others.
She had a zest for life and a passion to share her love of animal husbandry and the knowledge she gained through many years with all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters; Elvira (Leininger) Pouwels and Carol Linskens, son Tony (Anthony) Clark and daughter Jean Clark.
