Obituary

Joyce Ione Kay, age 86, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed away at a local skilled nursing facility on Saturday, November 7, 2015. The beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was born in Wausau, Wisconsin on April 25, 1929, to the late Herman H.A. Hanke and Lucia Emma Mathilda Thurs. She married Charles Paul Kay on January 25, 1952 in Wausau, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2013. She was the mother of three boys; Michael Paul Kay (deceased), Stephen Douglas Kay, and Timothy Charles (Kristine) Kakuschke (name restored to original spelling). She is grandma to Shalyn Kay, Kiersten (and Jeffrey) Robb, Katherine Kakuschke, Jared Kakuschke, Emilie Kakuschke, and Joshua Kakuschke. She was also a grandmother to Tasha Burns. She is great- grandma to Rayne Steurer, Kalvin Robb, and Baby Robb, on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Michael, and brothers and sisters. In her early years she lived on a farm in Hamburg Wisconsin. She has also lived in Wausau Wisconsin, Chatellerault France (while her husband was in the Army), Beloit Wisconsin, Oshkosh Wisconsin, and Green Bay Wisconsin. She was married for 61 years before Paul passed away. She is a devoted, extraordinary mother and expert homemaker. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in many capacities in the Church over the years such as: Part-Time District Missionary for the Northern States Mission, Organist, and Primary Teacher. She loved animals and gardening. She was talented in needlepoint, quilting, and dancing. She was a Brown Belt in Tae Kwon Do, having studied with Mr. Suhng Bin Cha of Cha's Blackbelt Academy in Beloit, Wisconsin. Family and friends may call at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 651 Pinehurst Ave., Green Bay, on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015 at 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Funeral Service 2:00 pm at the church with Bishop Scott Willmott officiating.
