Obituary

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved, June A. Calewarts, who peacefully left this world on March 17, 2025, at the age of 95, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 22, 1929, in Wausau, WI, to the late Fred and Madeline Buss, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister and friend.

June was born in Wausau and moved several times before her family settled in DePere.  She graduated from DePere High School.  She met and married the love of her life Robert Calewarts in October 1950 and together they celebrated 58 years. Soon after their marriage, June and Bob moved to Howard, WI where they built a home and raised their two girls, Linda and Robyn.  June was a longtime and hard worker at K-Mart and an active member of the Women's Auxiliary at VFW Post 7534. After retirement, she and Bob loved to spend time at their place in Crivitz, fishing, playing Sheepshead and "talking smart" with their family and friends.  Additionally, June enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting, making candy and watching all Packer games.

June is survived by her daughters, Linda Calewarts of Waukesha, WI and Robyn Deardorff (Stuart) of Elm Grove, WI. Her beloved granddaughters, Katy Begemann (Paul) of Wauwatosa, WI and Aly Friede (Erik) of Brookfield, WI and wonderful great grandchildren, Jackson, Sloane and Rollins. She is also survived by her brother Richard Buss of Green Bay, WI, her brothers-in-law, Marvin Calewarts (Violet) and James Bigler and sisters-in-law, Donna Buss, Joan Calewarts and Carole Calewarts.  Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, her brothers, Fred Buss and Raymond Buss, and sister, Dorothee Bigler.

A visitation will be held on March 25, 2025, at 10:00 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., (entrance across from the BP gas station on Glendale Ave) Green Bay, WI, with mass to follow at 11:30. A trust has been established to help provide for her daughter Linda, so in lieu of flowers or memorials, donations are requested to be made payable to "Wispak Trust II FBO Linda Calewarts, Trust #501436", to help support Linda's ongoing care and needs. Checks may be mailed to Pfotenhauer Funeral Home, PO Box 13355, Green Bay, WI 54307-3355.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Brighton Hospice and Angel's Grace Hospice for their kindness and caring compassion.
