Kathleen
Buntin
Nov 11, 1924 — Dec 30, 2021
Kathleen Buntin, a beloved mother and grandmother, died peacefully on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Marla Vista Assisted Living in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She was 97 years old.
A kind and loving soul, Kathleen was born Kathleen Verna De Lain on November 11, 1924, the first of nine children, to Harold and Verna (Dulik) De Lain, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. As a young girl, she loved to spend her summers in the farmlands of Casco, Wisconsin where her grandma lived. She made many fond memories and talked often about her adventures there, such as milking the cows and getting pecked by the chickens when she would collect the eggs. In her teen years, she enjoyed using her talents for both singing and acting at her school, church, and various other places. When she was a young woman, she was married and enjoyed the thrill of flipping houses with her husband. She was later divorced, and raised six children on her own. She worked very hard to support her family and instill good values. For many years, one of her favorite jobs was working for the Green Bay Press Gazette as a copy editor. She often spoke of the many different things she was able to see and do while working there. Kathleen served as a Notary for many years. Additionally, Kathleen loved to read and ingrained that love in her children and grandchildren. In her golden years, she visited the library so often that the librarians knew her by name. She also spent time as a Big Sister, sharing her time and love with children in need. In her later years, Kathleen loved to collect dolls. She enjoyed going to doll shows, collecting new dolls, and strategically arranging them throughout her home. When her birthday rolled around each year, it was always a challenge for her family to find a new doll to add to the collection. However, no matter how many dolls she received, her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She loved to simply spend time with her family, even if that meant just going for a drive in the car with one of her children or grandchildren. She always wanted to make sure that everyone was doing well and that they were taken care of. She also ensured that each and every member of her family knew that they were loved and that they could do anything they set their mind to.
Kathleen was a treasured mother to six children, Gary (Pat), Karen (Dave), Kris (Mark), Karleen (Mike), George (Barb), Gregg (Jodi); grandmother to seven grandchildren, David (deceased), Dustin (deceased), Doug, Kelly, Katie, Joshua, and Samuel; and great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren, Dakota, Mackenzie, Aidan, and Liam. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, three sisters, and two grandchildren.
Kathleen died knowing that she was loved by her beautiful family and that she had a new life waiting for her in heaven.
Kathleen will be interred in the Phase VI Mausoleum spot 11 at Allouez Catholic Cemetery near her brother Dave and sister Pat. Per her wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Online condolences are welcome at www.PfotenhauerFuneralHome.com
The family would like to express their gratitude to Moments Hospice for making Katheen's final weeks comfortable and pain free, and to Marla Vista for their care and attention over the past few years.
