Kevin Carl
Swanson
May 29, 1961 — Aug 30, 2025
Kevin Carl Swanson, 64, passed away with his family by his side at home on August 30, 2025. He was born to the late Harold Carl Swanson and Phyllis Mae (Tillman) Swanson on May 29, 1961, in Hayward, WI. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1979. Kevin married Barbara Janssen on October 16, 1987, in Green Bay.
Education and always "learning something new" was something Kevin truly felt to be important and enjoyed. He graduated from the Wisconsin School of Electronics in 1982 and from UW-Platteville with his bachelor's degree in 2021. He was bound and determined to get his degree, course by course, over 20 years - all while working, raising a family, and enduring many life altering illnesses. Kevin was a very hard-working and dedicated employee with Foth for over 25 years, working in the electrical engineering and project management field. He started as a Field Service Technician where he traveled throughout the United States and to many countries.
Kevin loved spending time with his grandkids and attending all their sports. He also enjoyed being up north and summer vacations with family in Hayward. Kevin was an avid outdoorsman spending his free time hunting and fishing. True to his Wisconsin roots, other favorite pastimes were watching and following the Packers and the Brewers.
Kevin suffered from several chronic illnesses, the first starting in 2014. Even through fatigue and loss of stamina, Kevin continued working diligently and enjoying life, set with its new limits, as much as possible. In July of 2024, it was discovered Kevin had glioblastoma, grade IV brain cancer. This cancer took so much from Kevin and left him fighting even harder through radiation, chemotherapy, and several hours of physical therapy, while also forcing Kevin into retirement.
Tragically, after a very courageous and strong fought battle, Kevin's body could not take any more pain and suffering. We believe Kevin is now pain free, resting and rejoicing with his beloved mom Phyllis and dad Harry, father-in-law Preston L. Janssen, Jr. and taking visits over to the "Rainbow Bridge" to take his several pets for a walk or a car ride, and giving them treats as he loved to do, especially his Sadie girl.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Ann (Janssen) Swanson; sons, Benjamin (Tera) Swanson of Pulaski and Logan (Atlana) Swanson of Suamico; "Papa's" grandchildren, Ben's 3 boys: Graysen, Barren, & Braylen and Logan's 2 girls: Harper & Wrenley; brother, Curt (Pam) Swanson; sister, Laurie Watters; mother-in-law, Margaret Janssen; and very good friend from college, Dick Hutter. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers & sisters-in-law, and his ever-loving "Auntie Bev".
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry & Phyllis Swanson; father-in-law, Preston L. Janssen, Jr.; brother-in-law, Gene Watters; and grandparents, Elmer & Mamie Swanson and Donald & Genevieve Tillman.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 9, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2736 Glendale Avenue, Green Bay, WI. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM. Inurnment to occur at a later date at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
The family requests no flowers, please.
The family would like to thank the nurses at the Bellin Health Infusion Center who listened to all of Kevin's hunting stories and his grandchildren's sports accomplishments over the past 12 years. Also, Bellin Health pharmacist, Joel, for his care and concern for Kevin and becoming a friend, always willing to share hunting and fishing stories.
Kevin will always be honored, loved, and missed more than words can ever describe by Barb and the family they created together.
~ Rest in Peace, Papa, we love you ~
