Obituary

Larry Yurek, 68, of Abrams, passed away unexpectedly on October 5, 2023. Larry will be sadly missed by his friends and family. He was a very nice, loving, generous, caring, sentimental, meek and mild, respectful kind of guy with a quick wit sense of humor, and fun to be around. He had an influential impact on people and pets. Larry took pride in what he put his hand to. He was a great provider and hard worker. He respected and honored the veterans and was a detailed storyteller. We all have crazy memories. Some may know him as sweet, smelling Lar.

Larry enjoyed sporting events, whether going to them or watching them on TV, such as baseball, football, basketball, hockey, and stock car racing. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, music concerts, and the casino.

Things that Larry loved were his 11 brothers and sisters, nieces, and nephews. He loved his coffee, cigarettes, cocktails, bonfires, and going out to eat.

Most of all Larry loved God, his wife of 24 years, Mary Jo, of which they have been together 37 years, and his cats and dogs which have been rescued over his lifetime. He will be sadly missed.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Jo; 9 siblings, Joseph (Stephanie) Yurek, Daniel (Darlene) Yurek, Rose (Roland) Pirlott, Jean (Dan) Veraghen, Robert (Debbie) Yurek, Kenneth (Celeste) Yurek, James Yurek, Tina Nagel, and Lori Yurek (Scott Vander Sande); sister-in-law, Sue Pierret; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews; and his fur babies, Tankster and Frankie. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Rose Kabacinksi; brothers-in-law, Bruce Kabacinski, Todd (Sue) Kabacinski, and Jeff Kabacinski; and sisters-in-law, Susan (Terry) Cota and Sandra Haefer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Yurek; sister, Carol Pierret; brother, Jerome Yurek; brothers-in-law, Jack Nagel and Brian Pierret; nephews, Joel Yurek, Daniel E. Veraghen, Daniel Yurek Jr., and great-nephew, Damien Veraghen; and niece, April Veraghen. He is further preceded by his father-in-law, Don Kabacinski and brother-in-law, Mark (Rhonda) Kabacinski.
