Obituary

Louise Agnes (Ney) Kohls, 88, Green Bay, was called home by our heavenly Father April 13, 2022.  She was born June 25, 1933 in Sheboygan, WI to Joseph George Ney and Olivia (Jetzer) Ney.  She spent much of her youth in Sheboygan until finishing the last three years at Washington High School in Milwaukee, 1951.  She worked as an executive secretary at Trostel and Sons Tannery in Milwaukee before and after secretarial school at Prospect Hall, 1953.  She married Robert Louis Holzfurtner Kohls January 29, 1955 and selflessly devoted most of her adult life to beautifully raising eight children living in various communities (Milwaukee, Hannibal, Appleton, Peshtigo, New London, Hortonville, Juneau, Slinger, and North Lake).  She returned to work outside the home at the New London Press Star as a copy editor and dark room technician.  Later, she became an LPN at Moraine Park Technical College (1989) and continued her compassionate care with elderly patients.  Throughout her life, she was active in her parishes and communities serving in volunteer leadership roles on Catholic school boards, parish councils, Christian Mothers, and the national women's club.  She volunteered with the Girl Scouts and was treasurer for local chapters of the American Cancer Society, Arthritis Foundation, March of Dimes, American Field Service, and public-school drives.  She committed her energies to the service of others.   She was an active gardener, enjoyed crochet, cross stitch, playing bridge, book club, investment club, and edited two genealogy books written by Robert.  During retirement, she and Robert traveled in the USA visiting many close and distant relatives as part of family history research.

She is survived by her husband Robert; Children: Gary Arthur (Joanne), Clint Louis (Tina Pakis), Scott Richard (Karen), Mark Alan (Nancy), Paula Rae Gabbard (Fred); Kevin Robert (Tammy); Kent Mitchell (Amy), Brian Earl; Grandchildren: Max Kohls, Hali Kohls, Benjamin Kohls (Sarah), John Kohls (Rylee), Matthew Kohls, Greg Gabbard (Allyson), Allie Meller (Jon), Eric Gabbard (Conner), Kavanaugh Kohls, Annika Kohls, Trinity Kohls, Mikayla Kohls, Maxwell Kohls, Mia Kohls, Nathan Kohls, Timothy Kohls, Clare Kohls; Great grandchildren: Malachi Kohls, Ian Kohls, Tucker Kohls, Titus Kohls, Lucia Kohls, Margaret Kohls, William Gabbard, and sibling to be Gabbard; grandchildren in-laws: (John) Michael Frangiskakis, Kara Malatia, Randall Malatia, Anthony Malatia, Zach (Dana) Miller, Emily Toporski, and Erin Toporski; Siblings: Connie Pilz (Al), Nancy Law Harris (Bob), Luke Ney (Barb), Mary McAllister, Sister-in-laws: Kathy Boser Ney and Kathy Brukwitzki Ney; many nieces and nephews including devoted niece Beth Schroeder.  Louise was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Olivia; brothers Earl Ney (Frances), James Ney, and John Ney; In-laws: Arthur and Irene Kohls, Bob and Arlene Schroeder, and grandson, Kurt Kohls.

Visitation will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave (one quarter mile east of the corner of Cardinal Ln. and Glendale Ave. Entrance directly across from BP gas station on Glendale.), Green Bay from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 officiated by Father Jim Lucas.  Burial will take place later at Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee.
