Obituary

Marie M. Bartz passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023. She was born on November 9, 1932 to the late Catherine (Ehlinger) and Ferdinand Sigl. Marie attended St. Anthony Grade School and graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1950.

Marie married Wayne D. Bartz on March 17, 1953 in Kingsville, Texas, where Wayne was stationed at the U.S. Naval Air Base. They returned to Abrams to make their permanent home in December 1953. Wayne preceded Marie in death on February 14, 1992.

Marie attended technical school and then worked as a legal secretary for over 35 years. After retirement, Marie worked on the Oconto County Board of Supervisors for 8 years. She was an avid Green Bay Packers and Brewers fan. She enjoyed playing golf, fishing, bowling, and gardening. She was a volunteer and donor for many churches, community activities, and fundraisers.

On March 2, 1998, Marie married Wallace (Wally) McDonald. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2017.

Marie was further preceded in death by her mother-in-law Erma (Peterson) Bartz and father-in-law Earl Bartz; sister Carol (Sigl) Elbe Staerkel; brothers Hubert Sigl and Frank Sigl; and sisters-in-law Wenda Griebeler and Karla Sigl.

She is survived by her son Jeffrey (Barbara) Bartz and daughter Julie (Dennis) Wieber; four grandsons: Justin (Alison) Bartz, Dennis E. Wieber, Christopher (Tiffany) Wieber, and Jason (LeAnne) Wieber; one granddaughter, Megan Bartz; and four great-grandchildren: Jackson, Ava, and Sophia Wieber; and Jase Peterson. She is further survived by brother-in-law Gerald Staerkel, sister-in-law Karen Sigl, and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Howard-Suamico, 1145 Cardinal Lane. A service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM. Marie will be laid to rest at Nicolet Memorial Park.
