Obituary

Michael "Mike" "Micky" Gallagher, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 13, 2024, one day before his 83rd birthday. He was born on June 14, 1941, to James Gallagher and Blanche Gydesen.

Mike attended Escanaba High School. He courageously served in the US Army for 6 years. Mike was proud of his service, which included deployments during the Korean and Vietnam wars, where he displayed bravery and dedication, earning a Purple Heart and Combat Infantry badge. Mike had the honor of participating in the Old Glory Honor Flight, an experience he thoroughly loved and talked about forever, especially alongside his daughter Jennifer.

Upon returning from his military service, Mike married N. Jane Gallagher on February 13, 1965, at All Saints Catholic Church. Together, they raised three children, who meant the world to him.

Mike retired from Selmer Construction in 2002, where he had dedicated years of hard work and commitment. In his retirement, he worked for Green Bay Packers on game day, serving the Michael Holmgren skybox booth. He would come home with all kinds of stories of meeting the coaches, players, and collecting memorabilia.

Additionally, Mike dedicated his time to volunteering at St. John the Baptist Parish picnics and fundraisers for many years, contributing to the parish he held dear.

Mike was an avid sports fan, particularly passionate about cheering on the Green Bay Packers and following NASCAR races. He found joy in maintaining his lawn, spending time fishing, playing pull tabs/football pools, and hunting in the great outdoors. In his younger years, Mike took pride in supporting his children's sporting endeavors, relishing every moment spent on the sidelines.

Above all, Mike cherished his role as a grandfather, attending his grandchildren's piano recitals, dance performances, and sports activities. With his big heart, he always wanted what was best for his family. His love and support were unwavering, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.

Mike is survived by his children Jennifer (Kelly) Pepin of Howard, WI, Timothy Gallagher of Green Bay, WI, and Michelle (Penny) Gallagher of St. Petersburg, FL; his grandchildren Gabrielle (Bryce) Pepin-VanderBerg of Kalamazoo, MI, Collin Pepin of St. Paul, MN, and Tucker Gallagher of Green Bay, WI; great-granddaughter Nadine VanderBerg; and dear sister, Pat Ketcham.

Mike is preceded in death by his wife, N. Jane Gallagher, parents, James Gallagher and Blanche Gydesen, and father and mother-in-law, Paul and Norma Jarvis.

Family and friends are invited to St. John the Baptist Parish, 2597 Glendale Avenue, Howard, WI 54313 on June 17, 2024 with visitation from 11am-12pm and mass at 12:00 led by Father William Swichtenberg, with a full military honors to immediately follow.
