Obituary

Michael Francis List, 74, passed away on June 20, 2026, with loved ones by his side. Michael was born to Eugene and Elaine List on December 31, 1951. He was a simple soul with a kind heart and a remarkable gift for bringing people together. Michael found his greatest joys in the outdoors and cherished every opportunity to spend time in nature. Whether he was fly fishing on a quiet stream, biking along a favorite trail, duck hunting at sunrise, or simply enjoying the beauty of the wilderness, he was most at peace outside. Michael was an avid artist, not only in photography, but in painting, sketching, and even some beautiful wood masterpieces.

Above all, Michael loved being with the people he cared about. He valued friendships deeply, welcomed others with an easy smile, and had a way of making everyone feel like family. The memories shared around campfires, in duck blinds, on riverbanks, and at family gatherings will remain treasured by all who knew and loved him.

Michael is survived by his beloved Linda; his foreign exchange daughters, Celine (Aldrick) and Young Eun Lee; stepdaughters, Shannon (Scott) Luscher and Tara (Jason) Wegner; step-grandchildren, Jackson and Cullen; lifelong best friend, Dave (Peg) Boncher; sister, Sandy (Winston) Stoddard; brother, Tom (Jill) List; in-laws, Lori (Ron) Lessmiller, Rose Smits, Sharon Peters, Sandy (Marvin) Clarksen, Louise Geurts, Kelly (Donna) Geurts, Rick (Sherri) Geurts, Mary Geurts, Jeff (Debbie) Geurts, and Perry Geurts; nieces and nephews, Brooke (Demba) Mbow, Brianne (Shawn) Ravet, Tarra (Paul) Smits, Deni Hintz, Steven (Kristy) Stoddard, David (Judy Armstrong) Stoddard, Laurel (Bernie) Van Eperen, Audrey, Connor, John, Clair, and Svitlana; and his precious pup, Gracie.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Debbi Smits List; his parents, Eugene and Elaine List; his brother, John List; his parents-in-law, Ken and Harriet (Ev) Smits; brother-in-law, Joe Smits; and Tim Robertson, Michael Geurts, Scott Geurts, and Ken Peters.

Michael's life was defined not by grand gestures, but by simple pleasures, steadfast friendships, and the love he shared so freely with others. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
