Obituary

Orin E. Miller of Green Bay, WI died peacefully on May 30, 2018.

He was born on April 18, 1924 in Evanston, IL., to Edward M. and Eloia A. Miller, he grew up in Green Bay, WI,  graduating from West High.

He entered the US Army in 1943 and served in the European Theater into 1946. He drove a snorkel truck off of an LSI on D-Day, receiving shrapnel wounds on Omaha Beach. He was seriously wounded in Germany by a grenade in 1945. After recovering, he stayed on in Europe with the occupation forces.

Staying in the Army Reserve, he was called to active duty during the Korean Conflict, rising to the rank of 2nd LT.

In 1947 he married Kathleen R. Shequin and together they enjoyed 71 years of marriage.

Orin became the president of Western Refrigerator Car Line, working in railcar leasing for over 40 years and making many friends along the way. His true happiness was always the time he spent at his lake home in Vilas County.

Orin is survived by his wife Kathleen, his son Edward (Linda), his daughter Ellen (Ken) Zittlow, grand-daughter Elizabeth Miller, Grandson Nathan (Michelle) Garot and their children Mikayla, Jonah, and Olivia Garot. He was preceded in death by his sister Muriel and his daughter-in-law Phyllis.

His family would like to express their gratitude to all who helped and cared for Orin. In particular, the family is very grateful to all of the staff at Angel's Touch Assisted Living Facility for their competent, attentive and compassionate care that they gave him.
