Otis Wessley, 90, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2022. He was born on December 30, 1931, in Green Bay to the late Andrew and Emma Wessley. After graduating high school from Green Bay West in 1950, Otis enlisted in the United States Navy from October 1951 to December 1954 where he served during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, he worked at DeCoster Construction Co. until retirement. On October 15th 1952, he married the love of his life, the former Caroll Sprague.
Otis enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and competing in the horse shoe circuit. In his retirement, Otis spent all the time he could with his grandchildren. In the latter years, Otis enjoyed relaxing in his recliner while watching the Game Show Network.
Otis is survived by his wife of 69 years, Caroll; children, Robert Wessley, Mark Wessley, Kathy Wessley, and Lynn Wessley; grandchildren, Jenny (Michael) Kobriger, Kayla (Zach) Michael, Michael (Laura) Wessley, Ashley Campshure, Michael Bigfire, Amber Bigfire, and Joshua Bigfire; eight great-grandchildren and many more family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lisa Bigfire; son-in-law, David Bigfire; and daughter-in-law, Leslie Wessley.
There will be a memorial service starting at 11 AM at St. Joseph Parish, 145 St Joseph Dr, Hobart, on Friday, January 21, led by Fr. David Ruby.
