Obituary

HOWARD - Paul N. DeCoster, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 11, 2021, with his wife and son, Michael, by his side.  He was born on September 2, 1942, in Green Bay to Norbert and Jeannette (Dalebroux) DeCoster.  Paul attended Annunciation Grade School and was a graduate of Green Bay West High School, Class of 1960.  On August 11, 1972, he married Margie DeCoster and they shared 48 years of marriage.

Paul worked at a variety of jobs until being employed at the Brown County Highway Department for a number of years.  He then worked as a Bridge Maintenance Supervisor for the State of Wisconsin for 21 years and it was through his traveling across the State for work that he found the best places to get a good burger or steak and could give you the exact directions to get to them all.  Paul retired from state employment in 2002 but, if you knew Paul, you knew he wouldn't stay retired very long.  After retirement, he became a school bus driver, trainer and 3 rd party tester for Lamers Bus Lines but Paul always felt the best part was being a school bus driver in the Howard-Suamico School District.  He truly enjoyed transporting the kids to and from school and for various school activities.  It meant so much to Paul to provide a safe ride for the children in his care.  After 17 years of driving bus, Paul retired again.

Paul enjoyed a good game of cribbage with his father-in-law every Saturday morning or with his son, Mike, attending drag races with Margie, woodworking especially making children's name puzzles and stools, a bowl of buttered popcorn.  He was a member of the Village of Howard Police and Fire Commission for many years.

Paul's great smile and wonderful sense of humor will be dearly missed.

Paul is survived by his wife, Margie; sons, Michael and Mark; daughter, Christine; brothers-in-law, Timothy Baumgart, Claude LeDuc; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Baumgart, Patricia Vogels, Mary (Bruce) VanStraten, Joan Baumgart; aunt, Jeanne (Archie) Servais; nieces and nephews; close family friend, Cassandra Lepp.  He is also survived by his beloved feline buddy, Smokey.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois LeDuc; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Timothy J. and Margaret Baumgart; brother-in-law, John Baumgart.

In accordance with Paul's wishes, there will be no funeral service.

A memorial fund has been established to benefit the New Zoo.
