Paul Louis Toneys, 77, Abrams, went to join his heavenly father unexpectedly on Thursday, May 25, 2017. He was born in Green Bay on April 17, 1940 to the late Phil and Evelyn (Sarsoiek) Toneys. Paul was a graduate of Green Bay West High School and enlisted in the US Marines in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1963. In 1965 Paul married Florence Hendricks and together they had three sons, and although divorced they were both very supportive and proud of their family. Paul earned his Bachelor Degree at UW Green Bay and Masters Degree from UW Oshkosh. Paul was a data processing instructor for NWTC retiring after 25 years. Following his retirement, he spent time consulting, and one of his consulting jobs took him to Germany, where he fell in love with the country, made many friends, and often returned for visits.
He was most passionate about youth hockey and still taught learn to skate at Cornerstone Community Center. Paul was an off-ice official for many years for St. Norbert Men's Hockey. He was proud of his time coaching, teaching, and many years playing hockey. He was most proud of the great friendships and memories made through hockey. His favorite places to visit were his cabin in Mellen, WI and Germany where he taught English to German kids.
Survivors include his children, Jeff Toneys; Scott (Tina) Toneys; Chris (Mindy) Toneys; grandchildren, Logan (Brittany) Toneys, with Logan currently serving with the US Army; Colin and Drake Toneys; brothers, Mike (Carol) Toneys; Rick (Betty) Toneys and Dave Toneys. Further survived by many relatives and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; special friend, Sherman Hart.
A Celebration of His Life will be held at the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Howard-Suamico location, 1145 Cardinal Lane, on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 4 until 7:00 p.m. Memorial Service 7:00 p.m. with Father Tim Shillcox, O.Praem. officiating. In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established in Dad's name at the funeral home.
