Phong Duc Nguyen, 38, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on the evening of October 8, 2026, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 13, 1988, in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Hoan and Mai Nguyen.
Phong was a 2006 graduate from Preble High School. During his four years of high school he made numerous friendships, most of which continued beyond the walls of the school. A handful of these friends became his regular poker buddies. He was known among many for having a lucky buddha rub of his belly. For many poker games he would play his hand blind and end up winning. He was a member of the Aces Up Poker Club for many years.
On October 15, 2022, he married the love of his life Britney Ann Rebman in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at the Marq Supper Club in DePere, Wisconsin. This was followed by a fun night celebrating this wonderful couple. Family and friends still talk about how much fun they had at Phong and Britney’s wedding.
His favorite things to do were shooting pool, playing cribbage, playing poker, collecting Pokemon cards, going to escape rooms, and having date nights with his beautiful wife. He was known for taking weekend drives with Britney, so he could see all the state of Wisconsin had to offer. He also loved to travel with his family and enjoyed the cousin’s vacations. Some of the places he has traveled to are: New Orleans, Louisiana; Branson and St Louis Missouri; Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge Tennessee; Cape Cod, Martha’s Vinyard, Nantucket, New Bedford and Plymouth Massachusetts; Newport Rhode Island; Mystic Connecticut and Port Arthur Texas. He proposed to Britney at Cads Cove, which is near Pigeon Forge on October 19, 2020.
Growing up in Green Bay did not mean Phong was a Packer fan! His favorite football team was the Philadelphia Eagles and favorite baseball team was the Milwaukee Brewers.
He worked as a cook for many years at Texas Roadhouse where he made many friendships and became known as one of the “Roadies”. He also worked at Mad Apple Burger & Billiard Company as a Pool Technician and Tournament Director. His love for shooting pool and hosting pool tournaments allowed him to make many more friendships throughout the years. No matter where Phong went, he found someone he knew or met through another friend.
Phong cherished every opportunity he had to spend time with those he loved. His family and friends were very important to him. When he arrived at any gathering, he always joined in a poker or cribbage game or any other game the family was playing. He enjoyed his monthly game night with his in-laws. Each month they would choose a few different games to play. He had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back if you asked for it. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people smile and laugh. If you were lucky enough you received one of his famous eyeball rolls. Phong enjoyed spending time cooking things on the grill. When he was grilling, he made enough to feed the army. He enjoyed spending time with his nephew and nieces. They loved spending time at Uncle Phongs and Auntie Britneys place and doing fun things with them.
Phong and Britney were the perfect couple. They were not only husband and wife but best friends. They shared everything together and had inside jokes that no one else understood. You could see the love they shared just by the way they looked at each other. They finished each other’s sentences and loved each other from the bottom of their hearts. There wasn’t anything they wouldn’t do for each other. Phong affectionately called Britney “Honey” and she called him her “Love Bug”.
Phong will be greatly missed by his wife of 4 years: Britney Nguyen; his parents: Hoan and Mai Nguyen; his siblings: Lam (Chi) Nguyen, Duong Nguyen and Mylinh (Josh Landers) Nguyen; his nephew: Huy Nguyen; his nieces: Annie and Evelyn Nguyen; his grandma: Dai Nguyen; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Thomas and Regina Rebman; his brother-in-law: Aaron Rebman; his aunts and uncles: Lap (Thu) Nguyen, Gon (Barb) Nguyen, Hiep (Carla) Nguyen, Thu (Joel) Multer, Mary (Jim Carroll) Nguyen, Hoan (Ly) Nguyen, Tien Nguyen, Hung Nguyen and numerous cousins and friends.
He will also be missed by Britney’s family. Grandparents: Sandy Kiefer, Carol Rebman and LeRoy Boyle; Aunts and Uncles: Laura (Scott) Knapp, Julie (Greg) Gmeiner, Scott Rebman, Laurie (Rusty) Detra, Dan (Dawn) Rebman; and numerous cousins.
Phong was preceded in death by: Grandparents Thang Nguyen, Hoan and Them Nguyen; Uncles: Cuong Nguyen, Gia Nguyen and Vuong Nguyen; Britney’s grandparents: Wally Kiefer, Tom Rebman and Mary Boyle.
We were so very blessed to have Phong in our lives as husband, son, grandson and friend. He will be sadly missed by everyone and forever remain in our hearts.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at St Mary of the Angels Church, 650 S. Irwin Avenue Green Bay. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 pm, at Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1145 Cardinal Lane Howard. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to honor Phong.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the ICU staff at Thedacare Hospital in Appleton, the SICU staff at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee and the staff at Kathy’s House in Milwaukee for the loving care and compassion that was given to Phong. They would also like to thank the many people who came to visit and spend time with Phong while he was in the hospital.
