Raymond A. Wellens, 71, Suamico, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at a local hospital. He was born in Winona, MN on Nov. 4, 1945 to Joseph A. & Grace M. (Van Laanen) Wellens.

Ray served a tour of duty in the U.S. Navy as a Sonar Technician, later retiring as a proud Teamster member and truck driver from Kemps Dairy.

Ray's passions included his family, playing cribbage with his friends, gambling, Green Bay Packers and cooking his specialties for friends and family.

Survivors include his children, Mary (Kenny) Bries; Randy (Robin) Wellens; Melissa (Roger) Rouse; grandchildren, Justin Wellens, Brandon Creiver, Kasey Wellens, Caden Bries, Ashley Rouse; his brother, Kenneth (Barbara) Wellens;, sister, Donna (Michael) VanRooy; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wellens; many nieces and nephews; former spouse and good friends Sharon (David) Steinfeldt.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kelly; his parents; brothers, Larry and James.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Howard-Suamico location, 1145 Cardinal Lane, on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Memorial Service 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences welcome at www.PfotenhauerFuneralHome.com
