Obituary

Richard "Dick" Schroeder, 85, of Howard, WI passed away unexpectedly, on October 22, 2025, at his home.  He was born on June 18,1940 at home in Glenmore, WI, son of the late Milton and Gertrude (Brandenburg) Schroeder.

He graduated from Denmark High School in 1958.  Dick married the love of his life, Gerri Denor on July 13, 1963.  Dick retired from Fort Howard Paper Mill after 30 years in the Power Plant.

Dick was incredibly proud of his sons.  One of his greatest joys was talking about their accomplishments in sports, their strong work ethic and the lives they created. He looked forward to watching his son, Mark, race at WIR, Slinger & Norway, along with his son, Lee & brother, Ken who helped in the pit crew.  Racing was truly a special time & great memories.

Once he became a grandfather, his world revolved around them. Grandpa became his favorite name & he was very active in their life.  He especially liked teaching card games, specifically sheepshead and playing cribbage & Old Maid (for money). They were his greatest joy, talked about them all the time and he cherished every moment with them.

Dick enjoyed bowling and was the first person to bowl a perfect 300 game at the Willow Creek Classic!!  He loved listening to Polka music & he would watch Polka, Polka, Polka on Sundays. Dick was often seen cruising around Howard on his "Harley" (a scooter) that became one of his favorite ways to get around town and bring smiles to those who saw him.

He is survived by his sons, Mark (Melissa LaPlant) Schroeder and Lee (Diane) Schroeder; grandchildren, Alexa (Robert Cunitz) Schroeder, Madyson (Jordan Jager) Schroeder, and Zakk (Quinn) Lade; great-granddaughter, Karsten Lade; sister-in-law, Judy Schroeder; brothers, Steve (Peg) Frelich, Dennis (Jackie) Frelich, and Larry Frelich; sister-in-law Carol (Dick) Diener; many nieces, nephews & cousins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gerri (Denor) Schroeder; brother, Ken Schroeder; and sister & brother-in-law, Barb & Larry Cavil; father, Milton Schroeder; mother & stepfather, Gertrude & Joe Frelich

Dick will be remembered for his love of his family & humor. His legacy lives on through memories and laughter he brought.  He absolutely loved giving everyone a hard time, of course with a chuckle!!
