Obituary

Russell J. Coble II, 79, passed away Monday, June 6, 2022, at home. Russell was born in Green Bay, WI on November 12, 1942, to the late Russell R. and Beatrice M. (Cherney) Coble. Russ married Lydia Niskanen in Menominee on December 30, 1964. Russ lived his life as a husband, father, family historian, wood worker, salesperson, and gardener. He took great pride in his family.

Russell served in the US Army, after serving he began his career at Kinney Shoes as a manager, trainer, and supervisor for well over 30 years. After retirement, he worked at Pfotenhauer Funeral Homes, Oneida Apple Orchard, and at local garden shops. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed being outdoors. He enjoyed his time he served as Governor and a member of the Loyal order of Moose and a member of the American Legion. He started selling Watkins in 1994 and loved meeting new customers and making new friends. Russ and Lydia moved to Peshtigo in 2002, where he built a wood shop and started building with cedar. He enjoyed selling his creations at the local flea markets. Other hobbies he enjoyed were camping, fishing, hunting, playing cards, historian, reading, animals, NASCAR and other sports.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Lydia of Athelstane; his two daughters, Lorrie A. Paxton (Coble- Harbison) and Paula S. Coble (special friend Mike Osmanski), and son, Russell W. (Tracy E. Schindel)

Coble III; grandchildren, Brandon J. Harbison, Breanna B. (& Brad Stoetzer) Harbison, Jordon L. Paxton, Russell A. Coble IV, Madison A. Paxton, Kaleb J. Coble, Corinne E. Coble, and William J. Coble; great- grandchildren, Devin, Jaxon, Harper, and Liam; brothers and sisters, Marion Hampton, Clarence (Susan) Coble, Ron Coble, Anne (Bob) Biernasz, Cynthia (Dennis) Bear, and Steven (Lucy) Coble; brothers and sisters in-law, Edith (Jim) Vetort, Delores (Ronald) Hujanen, Vye (Niskanen) Youngquist, Norman (Elaine) Niskanen, Judith (Niskanen) Franklin, Raymond (Joy) Niskanen, William (Sherry) Niskanen, and Ellen (Niskanen) Nowack, beloved family pet Lily, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Russell is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan (Coble) Diedrich; brothers-in-law, Peter Hampton, Donald Youngquist, and Jon Franklin; and sister-in-law, Tammy Coble.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Peshtigo United Methodist Church, 501 French Street, Peshtigo, WI, 54147. A service and full military rights will follow at 11:00 AM led by Pastor Nathan Reed. The burial will follow in Wausaukee around 3pm for anyone wanting to join the family.
