Russell J. Minor, 82, passed away peacefully with family by his side on January 15, 2023. He was born on May 21, 1940, in Milwaukee to the late LaVerne and Elvira Minor. On June 19, 1993, Russell married the love of his life, Diane, and together they have spent 29 wonderful years together. Russell and Diane lived in Athelstane for 23 years before recently moving to Howard.
From 1958-1961, Russell served in the United States Army as a Sergeant, stationed overseas in Germany. After being honorably discharged, he worked with Master Lock Co. for his 40 year career before retiring in 2000. Working in skilled trades, he also ran the in house Credit Union for 25 years.
Russell was a former member of Legion Post 66 and also was a driver for the Silver Cliff Rescue Squad for 6 years. He loved his little dog Tango, to ride his Harley, camping and traveling.
Russell is survived by his loving wife, Diane; son, Russell Jr. (Evy) Minor; daughter, Shane (Keith) Dobesh; brothers, Stanley Minor and Francis (Diane) Minor; sisters, Joyce Hammerling and Vicky (Lenny) Wieschiem; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jim Lidke; stepson, Jerry Jarvey and Heather Daniels; and many more family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jimmy Minor and John Minor; sister, Cecilia Lidke; brother, Charles "Chuck" Minor; brother-in-law, Jim Hammerling; and sister-in-law, Janice Minor.
A memorial gathering will be held on, Saturday, February 4, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Pfotenhauer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Howard-Suamico, 1145 Cardinal Lane. A memorial visitation and military honors will immediately follow at 12:00 PM. Online condolences are welcome at www.PfotenhauerFuneralHome.com.
