Russell W. Nau, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on October 14 th , 2016, with his family by his side. He was born March 12, 1928 to the late Hillar and Essie Nau in Florence, WI. Russell married Shirley (Hayes) Nau on September 5, 1970.
From 1946-1947, Russell served in the United States Army with the 24 th Medical Battalion as a Technician Fifth Grade. He later became a Licensed Cheese Maker for Frigo Cheese Co. in Florence, WI. In 1966, Russell moved to Green Bay, WI where he soon began working as a Paramedical Technician for St. Mary's Hospital, in which he retired in 1983.
Playing polkas on his accordion was something that Russell enjoyed doing for most of his life. There wasn't a polka that he didn't know. He played with many musicians in Northern Wisconsin and the Greater Green Bay Area. Russell also enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking. His humor and wit will greatly be missed.
Survivors include his wife Shirley; children, Karen (Kim) Anderson, Green Bay; Janet (Al) Kleiman, Bark River, MI; Russell (Kayya) Nau Jr., Green Bay; Julie (Tim) Wagnitz, Green Bay; sisters, Marjorie (Adlore) Durand, Chandler, AZ; Lila (Jack) Cleary, Bella Vista, AR;, many grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jack Nau and brother, Lewis Nau.
Family and friends may call at the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Service, East-Town location, 2379 East Mason St., on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016 from 4 until 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 645 S Irwin Ave. from 10 until 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. at the church with Father Tony Cirignani officiating. A warm and heartfelt thank you to the amazing staff at the Curative Connection Adult Day Program. Your kindness, love and support throughout the years will never be forgotten.
